This role is an Australia-based, fully work-from-home position, with access to co-working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Job Description
The WHS Specialist will be responsible for supporting the continual development and management of the health and safety strategy at Montu. This role involves ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, managing risks related to both physical and psychological health, and driving initiatives that support wellbeing within a fast-paced, complex health technology environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advice, support, and practical guidance on health and safety matters across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health and safety legislation
- Identify, assess, and mitigate psychosocial risks (e.g., workplace stress, burnout, harassment, mental health challenges) across all levels of the organisation.
- Assist with the delivery of training programs on workplace health and safety.
- Participate in regular assessments to identify potential workplace health and safety issues, and develop appropriate action plans.
- Manage the implementation and periodic review of corrective and preventative actions.
- Conduct investigations of workplace health and safety (including psychosocial) incidents including maintaining compliant records.
- Assist with emergency preparedness and response.
- Work with relevant divisional leads to ensure all incident and hazard reports, including associated documentation are followed up and completed in a confidential, timely fashion.
- Participate in the injury management/return to work process to ensure the earliest possible return to work for injured employees.
- Assist in the preparation of regular reports and updates to senior leadership on the performance of health and safety initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of health and safety programs, continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
- Provide support and collaborate on health and wellbeing strategies within Montu.
- Participate in the Montu WHS Committee, including assisting with the preparation and dissemination of meetings and agendas, onboarding of new members, and oversight of action items.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate safety considerations into their processes and activities.
- Communicate safety updates, initiatives, and requirements to employees at all levels of the organisation.
- Assist with the management of the WHS Framework, inclusive of day to day activities.
Qualifications
Mandatory:
- Minimum Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- 1+ years of experience in a health and safety role.
- Thorough understanding of national workplace health and safety legislation.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience in psychosocial risk management including the development of health and wellbeing programs in varied environments.
- Proven experience in building and implementing training programs.
- Strong ability to manage incident reporting and investigations, especially those related to psychosocial risks. Including workers compensation and injury management.
- ICAM Lead Investigation experience.
- Experience in managing safety management software systems.
- Experience working in complex, fast-paced environments, with competing priorities & high levels of cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience in conducting WHS Programs across multiple business units.
