The Senior Director – Indirect Tax (International) will be responsible for leading the international (non-U.S.) indirect tax function including business support, audit and issue management, compliance, reporting, and planning. The role will work with the SVP Global Tax, senior business leaders, and the global tax team to drive both strategic and tactical initiatives.  The successful candidate will be an experienced professional extremely well-versed on the non-U.S. indirect tax aspects and implications for a publicly held US-based multinational company including VAT, GST, HST, excise and fuel taxes, amongst other areas.
This is a highly visible and critical role directly responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the international tax team with responsibilities ranging from core compliance to strategic business partner. Industry experience is significant advantage as is the demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, initiatives, and competing timelines.

The Senior Director will work cross-functionally with the Commercial, Legal, and Corporate Accounting and Finance teams as well as with the broader global tax team. The role will be responsible for coordinating with its colleague and partner in the US (the Senior Director â Indirect Tax (US)) to ensure that all global tax compliance and reporting obligations are managed appropriately, and completed in an accurate, timely, and efficient manner. The role will also coordinate directly with the SVP Global Tax and the income tax group to ensure collaboration and consistency of policy, procedure, and communication.
The role will report directly to the SVP of Global Tax and lead a talented and experienced team in a hybrid work environment. It will be responsible for developing and strengthening the indirect tax team and mentoring them to be successful business partners as well as tax experts. The person will manage and coordinate with outside tax advisors to drive an aggressive agenda and will be responsible for an annual budget and control of outside professional fee spend.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the implementation the Companyâs operating model for its indirect tax compliance and reporting including close coordination with its external vendor(s) to ensure successful transition and transformation initiatives. Responsibilities include refining and adjusting the compliance operating model and team structure as necessary and appropriate.
Coordination and management of compliance and reporting, including statutory and SEC tax accounting and reporting, for the Companyâs non-US operations and activities.
Data and technology integration and improvements.
Risk and issue identification, communication, and management including audit management.
Team leadership and cross-functional collaboration to identify and deliver coordinated solutions.
Business partner. Build, mentor and manage a team of high-performing tax professionals who can simplify complexity and provide clarity, guidance, advice, and direction to our business partners to drive accuracy, compliance, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Experience:
12+ years of progressive and relevant indirect tax experience
Combination of public accounting and large corporate multinational tax department experience
Demonstrated strategic and tactical leadership and development of a high functioning team
Demonstrated experience in identifying and deploying tax technology solutions and best practice tools including analytics, automation, and dashboards
Unquestioned and uncompromising ethics and integrity
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Ability to distill and communicate complex tax issues and matters to non-tax technical business partners and senior leadership
Proactive, motivated, tenacious and persistent with the ability to prioritize and execute on the most important matters
Problem solver with a high degree of intellectual curiosity and fortitude
