- Solution Design & Implementation: Architect and deploy large-scale, high-availability PostgreSQL solutions tailored to customer needs, incorporating modern technologies like Kubernetes and AI.
- Customer Advisory: Assess customer environments, identify areas for improvement, and provide strategic recommendations to optimize performance, security, and scalability.
- Technical Delivery: Lead database migrations from Oracle, SQL Server, or MySQL to PostgreSQL. Perform performance tuning, upgrades, and patching to ensure optimal database health.
- Knowledge Transfer: Create clear and comprehensive documentation (Runbooks, Best Practice Guides) and deliver training to empower customer teams.
- Collaboration & Influence: Work with the Professional Services team to develop project proposals and statements of work. Act as a key liaison between the customer and internal EDB teams, identifying new opportunities and providing product feedback.
- Application Development Support: Guide customers on best practices for developing custom applications using languages such as Python, Java, C++, or Ruby.
- 5+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical consulting role.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on DBA experience with PostgreSQL and/or Oracle, including strong proficiency in SQL.
- Proven experience with Linux system administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.) and scripting (Bash, Python, etc.).
- Demonstrable knowledge of Kubernetes concepts and their application in database deployment.
- An understanding of vector databases and their role in AI and machine learning.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a talent for making complex technical concepts accessible.
- Ability to travel to customer sites as needed (up to 60%).
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL architecture, including replication (Streaming, Logical), connection pooling (PgBouncer), and high-availability setups.
- Proficiency with EDB’s product suite (EDB Postgres Advanced Server, EDB tools).
- Experience with database monitoring and observability tools.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (OpenShift).
- Knowledge of Change Data Capture (CDC) tools like Debezium.
- Experience in a remote or virtual team environment.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French, Spanish, Italian, or German is a strong asset.
