- Act as a trusted advisor to product and credit teams, balancing regulatory integrity with innovative delivery.
- Review and sign off on credit-related communications, terms, and policies to ensure they align with regulatory expectations.
- Oversee end-to-end compliance across our credit journeys and lead internal compliance monitoring plans for lending.
- Support adherence to the SMCR regime and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Interpret new regulatory guidance, such as updates from the FCA, and translate it into actionable, proportionate business policies.
- Partner with legal, risk, and data teams to guide the ethical and lawful use of emerging data sources.
- Act as a key point of contact during regulatory engagements, reviews, or audits.
Requirements:
- 7â10 yearsâ compliance experience in consumer lending, banking, fintech, or financial services
- Prior SMF 16 responsibility for a UK credit firm.
- Expert knowledge of UK credit regulation, including FCAâs CONC, SMCR, Consumer Duty, and relevant PRA/ICO requirements.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and product teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to draft clear, compliant policies and guidance.
- Hands-on experience managing regulatory interactions with the ICO and FOS
Desirable:
- Understanding of UK cards & payment regulations.
- Experience in a fast-paced fintech or digital lending environment.
- Familiarity with alternative data usage, open banking data, and use of ML in underwriting.
- Knowledge of data protection rules (e.g. GDPR) as they relate to credit decisions.
