Job Overview:
APTIM’s Energy Transition team is seeking a dynamic and personable Outreach Specialist in support of Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy program including both utility energy efficiency and renewable energy programs and the IRA Home Energy Rebate programs. This role is idea for someone who thrives in a public-facing environment, enjoys travel, and is passionate about clean energy, sustainability, and community engagement.
As a key member of the Stakeholder Engagement team, the Outreach Specialist will represent Focus on Energy at community events across Wisconsin — educating residents and businesses about energy-saving programs and incentives and rebates. Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, this position will also collaborate closely with marketing staff and program implementers to ensure outreach is consistent, accurate, and impactful.
Focus on Energy is Wisconsin’s statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy program, serving 107 utilities and supporting nearly 200,000 utility customers annually. APTIM has served as Program Administrator since 2011, helping delivery measurable energy savings and high-quality customer support.
APTIM’s Energy Transition team is a recognized leader in the marketplace. Our technical experts deliver highly innovative projects and complex client solutions providing the full breadth of energy solutions including energy management, carbon management, smart energy infrastructure, distributed energy resources (DER), and carbon-free mobility solutions. Our consultant proactively collaborates with clients to define and implement strategies and campaigns around key business drivers, with the primary focus of finding and delivering high-impact projects exceeding expectations and meeting the unique needs of our commercial and retail clients.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Represent Focus on Energy at community and stakeholder events with a focus on educating the public about program offerings and rebate opportunities.
- Deliver engaging presentations or talks to inform and inspire target audiences.
- Coordinate with event organizers on all aspects of event logistics, including scheduling, setup, materials, registration, and utility customers, troubleshooting any issues that arise.
- Develop a strong understanding of Focus on Energy programs to support effective communication, inform content development, and respond to staff and stakeholder inquiries.
- Build strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and utility customers.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to align outreach with program goals and marketing strategy.
- Monitor and share common questions, interests, and concerns raised by the public to inform program messaging and improvements.
- Support preparation of reports, updates, and outreach summaries.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Ensure compliance with all APTIM quality and safety policies as well as all OSHA regulations.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 4+ years’ event coordination and/or customer service experience. 2+ years’ experience with Master’s degree
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and ability to travel regularly across the state.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint).
- Willingness to learn new technologies across multiple industries.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proven experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage time, work independently and prioritize projects within established deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Commitment to fostering a collaborative work environment within the team and broader organization.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative team environment.
- Interest in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and public service.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with community outreach or staffing public events.
- 1+ years’ experience in the energy efficiency industry.
- Passion and understanding of basic energy concepts, technologies, or metrics.
- Ability to speak a second language, especially Spanish or Hmong.
- Previous experience supporting utility or incentive-based programs.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay range for this position is $65K to $70K Compensation depends on several factors including: experience, education, key skills, geographic location of the position, client requirements, external market competitiveness, and internal equity among other employees within APTIM.
