Role Summary
Weâre looking for a strategic and practical Team Lead, Learning Design to help us build a world-class, remote-first learning function at Deel. Youâll lead a small but mighty team of designers to deliver results-focused learning and engagement programs, while shaping the future of how we design, deliver, and scale high-quality design work across our global business.
Youâll need to thrive in fast-moving, sometimes scrappy environments where the pace is high and ambiguity is part of the challenge. Youâll bring strong consultancy instincts, working closely with internal stakeholders (including the people team, internal communications, and directly with business leaders) to translate their needs into creative, effective solutions.
And youâll play a key role in levelling up our learning design infrastructure – laying the foundations for a true Design Centre of Excellence (CoE) within the People team – and supporting our overall people experience and engagement goals.
What Youâll Be Responsible For
Team Management & Development
Manage, coach, and support a team of designers, helping them grow their craft and deliver consistently excellent work.
Build systems, templates, and standards to support the development of a scalable, quality-focused design CoE.
Manage weekly design sprint planning, and accountability for quality delivery of agreed outputs for each sprint. Youâll know which blockers to escalate, and which to manage first-hand.
Stakeholder Engagement & Learning Consultancy
Act as a consultant to internal teams, translating business goals into learner-centered, practical solutions with beautiful design to match.
Scope and lead design work across a range of briefs – balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
Manage competing priorities with clarity and calm, protecting designers from noise and helping the team stay focused on what matters most.
Experiential Design & Innovation
Oversee the design and development of experiential learning programs – including live workshops, cohort-based journeys, events, and blended learning solutions.
Champion the latest learning and design principles, creating programs that are engaging, inclusive, and grounded in real behavioral outcomes.
Keep the learner experience front and center, while ensuring programs reflect business realities and timelines.
Collaboration & Communication
Partner with Internal Comms to align messaging, build engagement, and drive visibility for key initiatives through excellent design campaigns (e.g. All Hands content builds).
Work closely with facilitators, SMEs, and other internal partners to ensure learning solutions are tightly tailored to business needs, land well and make the right impact.
Bring people along with you – communicating frequently, clearly and confidently in a remote-first, high-demand, fast-paced environment.
What Weâre Looking For
Essential
5+ years in design, with experience in a learning consultancy or client-facing role.
Experience leading or mentoring designers and delivering learning at scale.
Strong background in experiential design – ideally workshops, live sessions, and event-based assets.
Comfortable working at speed in high-demand, ambiguous environments, while upholding standards of quality and design thinking.
Excellent relationship-building and communication skills – youâre confident scoping work, giving feedback, and setting/managing expectations with demanding stakeholders.
Bonus Points For
Experience partnering with Internal Communications or Employee Engagement teams.
Familiarity with these design tools and digital platforms: Articulate, Canva, Figma.
Exposure to building or running a design CoE, or contributing to learning operations and infrastructure.
