Company Description
Welcome to the good side of tech đź‘‹
You might have heard about us, but with a different name: Doctoralia. It all started 10 years ago when we asked ourselves: is anyone in healthcare thinking about patients? We jumped in and we empowered patients by giving them access to leave and read reviews about their visit. We then provided doctors with the technology to manage bookings easily and save time, so they could devote themselves to what they always wanted: treating patients. And today is the day in which we ask you: wanna join us in the next step of making the healthcare experience more human?
Docplanner at scale
We are leaders in 13 countries so far, and more than 90 million patients trust us every month. 280.000 specialists believe in us and our product, and so do leading venture capital funds such as Point Nine Capital, Goldman Sachs Asset Management, and One Peak Partners. And yet, employing over 2.900 people all over the globe, we managed to keep the startup mindset we started with over 10 years ago.
How does Docplanner Tech fit here?
At Docplanner Tech we are a diverse group of ~325 people working in teams that include engineers, designers, product managers, data and research. We are responsible for building the product for all locations. Taking care about talent matters to us, that’s why the engineering team has an amazing balance of new team members and people that have been in DP for years.
We could tell you about us, but we will let our reviews on Glassdoor speak for themselves. In case you’d like to see how it feels to be 100% yourself at work, here’s a video of us.Â
And why should you join us?
Because it feels good to tell your family and your friends how you made the world a little bit better. You go to bed knowing that what you do matters, and that your talents align with your beliefs.
We want to make the healthcare experience more human, and that starts with you being you. We believe that taking the diversity of human experience into account makes a better healthcare experience for all. We’re not just different: we embrace diversity. We will encourage you to come to work your whole self, and that includes not coming to the office at all if you prefer not to, as we’re 100% remote-friendly.
Job Description
Area of work
The Online Booking domain is at the heart of Docplanner’s product ecosystem, powering over 20 million patient–doctor appointments each month. It covers everything from healthcare offer configuration and provider availability management to patient-facing booking flows.
Over years of rapid growth, mergers, and acquisitions, this space has become both business-critical and technically complex. Today, the booking process spans multiple systems and technologies. From our SaaS platform and Calendar App (.NET), through the front-end layer (Node.js/JavaScript), legacy Monolith services (PHP), and numerous third-party integrations.
This distributed landscape reflects years of fast-paced evolution, but also brings challenges to scalability and evolvability. With Docplanner operating at significant global scale in a highly dynamic healthcare environment, the Online Booking area is central to maintaining our competitive edge. Here, you’ll work on untangling complexity, modernizing systems, and shaping the next generation of patient–doctor booking experiences.
Role
As a Staff Engineer in Online Booking, you’ll be the technical driver of one of the most critical systems in our product ecosystem. You’ll dive deep into our legacy monolith, experiment, propose solutions (and counterproposals), and lead the journey of decomposing it into smaller, more evolvable components.
You won’t just define strategy, you’ll also get hands-on with the code, making direct changes where needed, while influencing and aligning with 4+ teams in your area and other teams across the company. This role is both highly technical and highly collaborative.
We are committed to continuous improvement, open feedback, and working efficiently towards our goals. This role provides an opportunity to actively contribute to the technical direction of the area.
You’ll also bring a data-driven mindset: defining and tracking technical metrics, measuring progress, and using data to prioritize what should be tackled and why.
The role reports directly to the Engineering Director and works closely with EMs as well as other Staff Engineers at Docplanner.
Our tech stack at Docplanner Tech includes .Net, PHP, and Vue/ReactNative, running on Kubernetes in AWS. While expertise in these technologies isn’t required, this is a very technical and hands-on role, for which strong communication skills and experience influencing technical decisions are also essential to effectively support the teams.
What you will be doing
Lead and drive technical initiatives that impact multiple teams (~4Â in your area, and others cross-company).
Take ownership of the monolith decomposition, working hands-on in the codebase to untangle complexity and guide sustainable modernization.
Partner with EMs and engineers to set technical direction, aligning stakeholders and building consensus on high-impact initiatives.
Define and track technical metrics to measure progress and outcomes, using data to prioritize and validate decisions.
Experiment, descope, and design solutions that reduce risk in highly ambiguous and fragile systems.
Act as a technical reference point across the domain, supporting and unblocking engineers in complex discussions.
Mentor, coach, and provide guidance to engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
You’re likely a great fit for this role if you
Have a solid technical background across the full SDLC, with strong backend expertise and holistic understanding of distributed/full-stack systems.
Thrive in ambiguous, legacy-heavy environments where systems are fragile and experimentation is required.
- Â
Enjoy being hands-on in the code, not just setting direction but actively unblocking and implementing solutions.
Have experience leading cross-team initiatives and influencing other teams to align on complex technical changes.
Are data-driven, with the ability to propose and track meaningful technical metrics.
Balance short-term impact with long-term sustainability, approaching software development with a lean, proactive, and positive mindset.
Have a track record of mentoring and guiding engineers at different levels.
Are motivated by purpose: you want to work on a product that directly improves how healthcare operates and impacts millions of people globally.
