Overview of Position
This role has primary responsibility for the management and leadership of the Housing Accounting functions and will be the single point of ownership to the business for all of accounting’s performance. This role will be responsible for direct and indirect oversight of all accounting practices, systems, and internal controls for the Housing segment. This includes general accounting, financial records, internal controls, financial reporting (GAAP & STAT), monthly and quarterly close processes, reconciliations, financial statement analytics, business consultation and coordination with Corporate Accounting.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
Formulate strategy and processes to ensure appropriate accounting for the Housing segment.
Collaborate with Business CFOs and Finance teams to assess operational impacts of business events and lead UAT coordination to ensure system integration aligns with control requirements and long-term strategic goals.
Provide input on client deal structures and strategic Housing initiatives to optimize financial performance within accounting guidelines.
Oversee a complex accounting environment with multiple product lines and regulatory requirements.
Conduct technical accounting reviews to ensure proper application of accounting policies to both routine and non-routine transactions.
Ensure compliance with SEC, GAAP, and statutory requirements.
Work through Accounting Centers of Excellence to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis for Housing and Corporate stakeholders.
Lead planning and coordination of accounting processes, including SOX compliance and internal controls.
Establish best practices for financial data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Maintain relationships with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Support system and process initiatives (e.g., ERP implementations).
Lead integration efforts for acquisitions within the Housing segment.
Drive process improvements across Housing accounting and coordinate with FP&A, operations, and business teams.
Attract, recruit, and develop accounting talent.
Responsibility for the work of others
Leads all teams in the Housing accounting functional areas, including general accounting and reporting. Direct reports may include AVPs, Directors, and other team members.
This position has direct oversight responsibility for employees and indirect oversight for COE team activity for the Housing segment.
What are the requirements needed for this position?
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in Accounting/Finance within publicly traded insurance companies.
CPA designation required.
Proven experience managing close and financial reporting processes.
Strong knowledge of P&C insurance market including key products, distribution channels and reinsurance structures.
Highly analytical with strong technical accounting acumen.
Strong leadership, communication, and executive presence.
High integrity and ability to drive change.
Experience working with Board and C-suite stakeholders.
Experience leading teams and developing talent.
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
Public accounting experience
Experience in a P&C insurance company
ERP system implementation experience
M&A experience
Prior experience in a publicly traded company
Experience with process automation and AI-related technologies

Pay Range:
$166,900.00 – $278,600.00
Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
