Etsy is seeking a Senior Manager of Customer Data Science to join our team!

We are looking for a person who is an innovative, analytical thinker and strong communicator, whose insights enable your teammates to develop valuable, highly effective programs to turn one-time users into loyal customers and increase purchase frequency. As the Sr. Manager of Customer Data Science you are establishing a brand new team within Marketing that will work with other functions and Product to help drive the company’s growth!
This is a full-time position reporting to the VP of Growth Marketing and the base salary range will be 176,000 – 228,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States who are either remote, flex, or office-based. Etsy offers different work modes to meet the variety of needs and preferences of our team.
What does the day-to-day look like?
- Lead the Customer Data Science team focusing on evolving Etsy’s customer segmentation, developing targeting strategies, and driving growth strategy across marketing channels
- Enrich customer data and develop user scores / propensity models in support of relevant targeting and messaging Drive Marketing automation, e.g. audience creation and reporting processes
- Work with Marketing Technology partners to handle technical aspects of key marketing systems and evaluate new technologies to improve and optimize marketing team performance
- Manage data related projects and represent the team on cross-functional and external/third-party initiatives
- Develop weekly and monthly experiment plans and make recommendations to increase engagement across key segments and channels

Qualifications
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
- 6-8 years minimum of quantitative work experience with large customer databases
- Have a BA or BS Degree (In lieu of degree, 4 years of relevant work experience); an advanced degree in a quantitative discipline or equivalent work experience preferred
- No stranger to translating business challenges into data analytics problems
- Expertise in predictive modeling, and statistical analyses in general
- Demonstrated experience with experimental design
- Advanced Proficiency in SQL; must understand CTEs, window functions, etc
- Expert level experience with a scripting language (Python preferred)
- Solid experience in one or more languages for statistical programming (e.g. Python Analytics Libraries, R, SAS)
- Skilled with workflow automation tools and concepts like, cron jobs, Airflow, etc.
- Proven track record managing teams of data scientists, multiple projects, and timelines in a fast-paced environment
- High aptitude for influencing decisions using analytics at a fast-growing firm, a leading consultancy, a financial services company, or similar
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau) a plus
- Familiarity with leveraging APIs for data extraction purposes a plus
