Job Description

What you get to do in this role:

  • Responsible for key areas of Capital and Infrastructure accounting, including lease accounting, capitalized software, and related functional expenses; this role also provides exposure to other areas of fixed assets accounting
  • Prepare and review journal entries, fluctuation analyses, key reconciliations, and rollforwards as part of monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close activities; present results and analyses at quarterly review meetings with the Chief Accounting Officer
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial results in accordance with US GAAP and global accounting policies
  • Facilitate meetings with cross-functional business partners such as Technical Accounting, Real Estate Transactions team, and Financial Planning & Analysis groups to obtain necessary information to record transactions accurately and completely
  • Participate in quarterly reviews and annual audits by interfacing with auditors and ensuring timely completion of supporting schedules related to financial audits (consolidated and statutory)
  • Ensure compliance with and effectiveness of global accounting policies, processes, procedures, and internal controls
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automations (where appropriate) to reduce time to close and improve accuracy of underlying accounting records
  • Engage with Technical Accounting to conclude on appropriate accounting for leases, capitalized software, and other topics as needed
  • Participate in various ad-hoc/ special projects in our effort to streamline and standardize processes across the team

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, within a global company of similar size, scale, and complexity to ServiceNow
  • Strong accounting background with knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS, as well as experience with technical research specifically in ASC 842, ASC 350-40 and ASC 985 or equivalent IFRS guidance in lease accounting and cloud computing arrangement
  • CPA or equivalent, Big Four public accounting experience, and working proficiency with SAP, highly preferred
  • Strong project management and process improvement skills; proficiency with spreadsheet and presentation software
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited procedures currently exist
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
