Salons, spas, medspas… they all have data. And whether they’re giving a massage or a microdermabrasion treatment, all that data for their clients, their appointments, their treatments, their staff schedules… it’s super important — critical, in fact — for them to continue operating their establishment.
Personal care businesses fall in love with Boulevard because our platform is tailor-made for them, with style and smarts to make running their shop as flawless as they make their clients feel. But when they want to switch to Boulevard, if they can’t bring their data, that can be a major deal-breaker.
Luckily, we’ve built the tools and automation to make data migrations from other platforms possible. But, everyone’s data is a little different, and these migrations sometimes require a lot of love to make them go smoothly. Appointments don’t line up with clients right, or services are missing prices, and we’ve got to investigate and fix what went wrong in the data extraction or import.
This is why we’re bringing on a Technical Support Engineer who is customer-driven and data-obsessed to support the Onboarding & Growth charter. This is a unique new opportunity at Boulevard for the right individual, integrating with and reporting directly to the Onboarding & Growth Engineering team. With this role comes the potential for the Onboarding tech support team to grow with you as you lead, as well as for a career path into engineering if desired.
What you’ll do here:
- Run data migrations for customers who are launching with Boulevard using our proprietary command-line and web-based migration tools.
- Identify and fix customer data issues prior to import, such as resolving foreign key conflicts or missing fields, using SQLite, Postgres, Snowflake, Retool, scripts, and spreadsheets.
- Communicate status, needs, and expectations with customers, Onboarding Specialists, Onboarding Engineers, and other stakeholders through standups, zoom meetings, Slack messages, Jira tickets, and email.
- Make informed decisions under pressure, mediate solutions, and prioritize tasks based on impact and urgency with escalated issues and incident response.
- Debug and propose code fixes to Engineering for issues arising from Boulevard’s migration tools in Node.js, TypeScript, and Elixir using Github, Datadog, Sentry, Oban, AWS, Postman, file logs, and the command line.
- Develop resources and strategies for handling new and repeating issues to leave a path for others, create efficiencies, and improve time to resolution.
- Participate in retrospectives and post mortems and contribute to Root Cause Analyses with detailed written and verbal findings of technical issues, actions, and proposals related to successful and unsuccessful customer launches.
- Teach and support Onboarding Specialists how to self-serve for migration and data tasks within their scope of role; Advise Onboarding Specialists on level of effort and timeline for migration and data tasks that need estimation and scoping.
- Become a Boulevard platform expert, learning the system inside-out through a detailed understanding of how the core data drives features and interactions.
- Partner closely with a wide range of team members from Engineering, Product, Customer Experience, Sales, Solution Arch, Tech Support, Data, Exec Team, and more, both learning from their areas of expertise and serving as a go-to technical resource.
What you’ll need to thrive:
- 3+ years of experience in a technical support or support engineering role with troubleshooting, debugging, log analysis, documentation, triage, and reporting functions.
- Off-hours schedule flexibility to run migrations before or after U.S. business hours (ideal working schedule would be 6am – 3pm Eastern Time; other options available).
- Expertise with data manipulation via SQL databases, CLI tools, and spreadsheets.
- Technical grasp of web applications, including HTTP, authentication, developer tools, and HTML.
- Light coding/scripting experience; back-end JavaScript or Elixir/functional languages a plus.
- Expert collaboration and communication skills, written and verbal, driving clarity through ambiguity in team settings, including group troubleshooting, issue handoff, proactive reporting, and translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent critical thinking skills — you can review details, create your own analysis, ask key questions, and cut through the noise to see the problem needing to be solved.

How we’ll take care of you:
Your starting budgeted cash compensation for this role is between $91,770 and $131,100, depending on your current skills, experience, training, and overall market demands. This total compensation range is subject to change, and there is always room for growth and advancement.
