The successful candidate will be skilled in Cloud Systems and very knowledge in Linux System and Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud administration in addition to being competent with the growth, streamlining and evolution of NOAA’s VLab Cloud. The successful candidate will work with NWS staff to develop solutions for technical issues impacting VLab Cloud. Technical issues involve: (a) Cloud architecture; and (b) Maintaining a secure and up-to-date operational system.
Specifically, this individual will support numerous activities including a) Setting up and configuring Cloud infrastructures (b) Providing Cloud support; c) Assisting in keeping Cloud services up-to-date and secure.

What You Will Need:
- High school diploma/GED and AT LEAST 5 years of relevant equivalent work experience in Linux system administration along with at least 2+ years of AWS Cloud administration
- Attention to detail.
- High degree of initiative, excellent communication skills
- AWS- Experience with AWS Cloud, specifically Amazon Web Services
- (Systems Manager, IAM, EC2, EBS, EFS, Lustre, S3, Lambda, RDS, AWS, cli, and boto3/java AWS SDK)
- Advanced Shell Scripting skills
- Experience with issue tracking
- IAC – Infrastructure as Code (Ansible preferred) Chef, Salt, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, Puppet, Saltack…
- Provisioning Deployment – Configuration – Orchestration
- Experience with revision control (specifically Git)
- Strong problem-solving and logical thinking skills
- Experience writing and running automated tests
- Must be reliable, self-motivated, and comfortable working in an agile and creative team environment
- Ability to work independently
- Experience supporting and maintaining large projects
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident is required for the position.

What Would Be Nice to Have:
- BS/BA Degree or related technical field of study (or equivalent experience)
- Experience with Centos/Redhat OS
- Experience with continuous integration (e.g., Jenkins)
- Experience with Gerrit code review
- Experience with Python
- Experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch)
- NOAA FISMA and NIST 800-53 Security controls
- Experience with containerized systems such as Docker.
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ruby, Freemarker, XML, Apache HTTP, and Apache Tomcat
- Strong writing skills for documentation purposes
- Experience troubleshooting complicated issues
- Experience supporting and maintaining an operational system
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines,
- communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and a willingness to learn new skills for professional growth within the position

The annual salary range for this position is $75,000.00-$112,500.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
