About the Role:

As the Director of Content Marketing, you will develop and execute a comprehensive content marketing strategy to drive lead generation, engage our target audience, and support our customer retention and brand awareness efforts. You will lead a talented team and set the direction and strategy of our content marketing efforts. This position requires a strong blend of strategic thinking, leadership abilities, creativity, and excellent communication skills.

What your success will look like:

  • Content Strategy Mastery: Proven expertise in developing and refining a content marketing strategy aligned with business objectives, target audience, and industry trends. Ability to assess market trends, audience needs, and competitive landscapes to inform strategy. Have an in-depth knowledge of the target audience, their pain points, and preferences, and tailor content strategies to resonate with their specific needs.
  • Lead Generation: Work closely with the demand generation team to create content that supports lead generation efforts, including podcasts, webinars, gated content, and email campaigns; optimize content for each stage of the lead funnel. Demonstrate an impact on achieving demand and revenue goals.
  • Content Production: Lead a team of content creators to produce high-quality, engaging content across various formats (channel copy, whitepapers, videos, infographics, webinars, thought leadership, etc.). Proficiency in overseeing the creation of high-quality and engaging content across various formats (blogs, videos, infographics, etc.). Ensure content adheres to brand guidelines and maintains a consistent tone and style.
  • Content Distribution: Develop and implement a content distribution plan to ensure our content reaches the right audience through various channels, including social media, email marketing, SEO, and paid advertising. Continuously and proactively find ways to leverage better content produced.
  • Team Leadership: Experience leading and managing a team of content creators, editors, and strategists. Demonstrated ability to motivate and guide team members to achieve exceptional results.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product marketing, sales, account management, and other departments to ensure content aligns with product launches, campaigns, and sales enablement needs. Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Sales and Account Management to ensure key inputs and insights are included in the content strategy.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Utilize analytics tools to track content performance, KPIs, and ROI. Use insights to refine content strategies and make data-driven decisions. Proactively share reporting and insights – use learnings to improve content creation.
  • Budget Management: Manage the content marketing budget effectively, allocating resources to initiatives that deliver the highest ROI.
  • Brand and Positioning: Ensure differentiated and unique messaging that clearly positions Scorpion as a thought leader in the space. Ensure that positioning is clearly woven through all our content and communications and maintain up-to-date and relevant personas for each target audience. Maintain a consistent brand identity across all marketing communications.

Who you are and what you bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in B2B content marketing strategy development and execution
  • 5+ years of experience in leading and coaching a team
  • Experience working in a start-up environment
  • Ability to envision and develop long-term marketing and content strategies that align with business goals and objectives
  • Expert in content marketing principles, including content creation, distribution, and optimization across various platforms and formats
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and the ability to incorporate SEO strategies into content planning
  • Experience in shaping brand perception through storytelling and thought leadership initiatives
  • Ability to leverage data and analytics to assess marketing performance, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement
  • Experience in orchestrating integrated marketing campaigns across various channels, including email, social media, webinars, events, and more
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate complex ideas and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Compensation:

  • We acknowledge that states have passed legislation promoting pay transparency.  As a national employer, Scorpion has made the decision to post our expected pay rate or pay range (as applicable) in all our job postings, regardless of geographic location.
  • The base salary range is $130,000(entry-level) – $160,000 (highly experienced), exclusive of fringe benefits. If you are hired at Scorpion, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the total salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary bonuses or commissions.
