About the Role:
As Head of Procurement Strategy, you will have a unique impact at Airbase by directly influencing the vision and success of our Guided Procurement offering. The primary goal of this role is to help evangelize Airbase and build awareness in the procurement community. This is an externally facing role and reports to our CRO. While you will have the opportunity to influence the procurement process at Airbase, that is not the primary focus of the role. You will spend most of your time contributing to our marketing and sales efforts.
What You’ll Do:
Primary responsibilities (90% of the role)
- Build pipeline with our marketing team and work with our sales team to win new customers. To do that you will:
- Be the face of Airbase in the procurement community.
- Actively pursue opportunities externally that represent Airbase in the Procurement community; speaking events, engaging with analysts, etc. This will likely require 20-30% travel.
- Engage in community-building activities in the Procurement industry (online and in-person).
- Collaborate and contribute with our marketing team to design and drive webinars, e-books, and other content that adds value to the procurement community.
- Assess requirements and work with prospects to overcome hurdles during the sales process by assessing fit through use cases, cost-benefit/ROI analysis, and technical competencies.
- Build and manage Airbase’s Procurement Customer Advisory Board.
Secondary responsibilities (10% of the role)
- Collaborate and create content with our onboarding and implementation team to improve the post-sales processes to help our customers accelerate time to value.
- Incorporate customer POV into product solutions and messaging and refine strategies for future launches.
- Collaborate with our finance and accounting teams to streamline and improve our internal procurement processes.
- Collaborate with our product team to influence our product strategy and roadmap.
What You Bring:
- 7+ years experience in Procurement or Strategic Sourcing. We believe that a practitioner who has been in procurement roles will be successful in this role.
- Demonstrated experience of active participation in the procurement community, like speaking engagements.
- Experience developing and implementing procurement processes at a high-growth technology company.
- Experience driving results through the negotiation process such as contract negotiation and supplier performance.
- Experience leading and executing decisions across an organization.
- Knowledge of the modern (post-2018) procurement software and technology landscape.
- Project management, and basic financial analysis skills.
- Nice to have: Professional qualification/certification from related organizations (CPM, CPSM, APICS).
