The Team and Role

The Commercial team supports this mission by working with our colleagues across the organization to close deals at scale. In addition, we provide solid products and privacy counseling. We are negotiators, with deep knowledge of the law and business, which allows for quick, confident counsel and decision making. We are writers, with a style that expresses complex ideas in straightforward language. We are strategic business advisors and work closely with key stakeholders across the organization. We are legal generalists and eager to help our product and engineering teams to navigate the legal environment to build successful products. The Associate General Counsel will lead a team of Commercial Counsels as a player-coach. This is a remote-friendly role.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of commercial counsels and lead the commercial legal support for certain verticals and regions.
- Empower your team to lead smart, relationship focused negotiations with some of the largest and most respected companies in the world. You will be empowered to find creative, efficient ways to close deals that deliver value to both Medallia and our customers.
- Lead the product counseling function.
- Provide strategic legal counsel on a broad range of legal issues.
- Influence and build relationships with clients and cross-functional peers across Medalllia to drive solutions to complex legal and commercial challenges.
- Drive continuous improvements to existing legal templates, legal and business processes.
- Engage your colleagues. You will be integral to Medallia’s success, but you won’t stand alone. Instead, you will bring a collaborative mindset and a commitment to work with colleagues across the company.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 7 years of relevant legal experience including demonstrated experience in negotiating commercial deals at a technology company
- Admitted to a State Bar
- J.D. or LL.M.
- Experience managing a team of attorneys
Preferred Qualifications
- SaaS industry experience
- Previous law firm experience
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic legal counsel on a broad range of legal issues, ideally product and/or privacy counseling
- Highly collaborative person who supports their colleagues, who champions our mission and wants to win as a team
- Desire to get things done
Medallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $173,000 – $295.000. This position is bonus eligible. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors. Medallia considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, candidate’s work location, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, external market data, as well as, market and business considerations when making compensation decisions.
