Saint Luke’s Health System

Saint Luke’s Health System is a large, integrated nonprofit healthcare organization serving the Kansas City metropolitan area and spanning 67 counties across Missouri and Kansas. Founded in 1882 as a small hospital in a frontier trading town, it has grown into an extensive system comprising 10 hospitals and campuses with more than 12,000 employees. The organization delivers comprehensive care to a metropolitan population of two million people and maintains a strong presence in research and medical education.

On January 1, 2024, Saint Luke’s officially merged with BJC HealthCare to form BJC Health System, creating a single, integrated healthcare organization that operates distinct brands in the East (BJC HealthCare) and West (Saint Luke’s). This merger united two major regions under one leadership structure while preserving local identity and service excellence. Saint Luke’s continues to serve the West Region of BJC Health, one of the largest nonprofit healthcare organizations in the United States.

For nearly 150 years, Saint Luke’s has pursued excellence in healthcare, research, and education, standing on the leading edge of care quality. The system is part of a broader network affiliated with CommonSpirit Health, one of the largest faith-based health systems in the nation.
