I am a First Class Honors Psychology graduate with a strong academic background in psychology, counselling, mental health, and community wellbeing. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Psychology with a 3.7 GPA and am currently pursuing a BA General Arts degree focused on English, Psychology, and Sociology.
I am passionate about counselling psychology, clinical psychology, and accessible, evidence-based mental healthcare. My long-term goal is to pursue postgraduate studies in Counselling or Clinical Psychology and contribute positively to individuals and communities.
I have experience conducting qualitative research, including a dissertation on attachment styles among older adults in elderly care homes. I have also researched economic stress among University of Peradeniya students as part of an academic sociology project.
My academic work has strengthened my research methods, interviewing, critical thinking, communication, and analytical abilities. I am currently engaged in an individual psychology research project and am interested in continuing to develop my research skills.
I have volunteered in an educational setting, supporting children with special educational needs in classroom learning alongside teachers. This experience, along with exposure to a school counselling setting, has strengthened my empathy, active listening, teamwork, and commitment to supporting wellbeing.
I am motivated, compassionate, and eager to begin or further develop my career in psychology, counselling, research, or community mental health.
