Youth Activities Coordinator

-Design varied youth activities based around gardening, bicycling, arts & crafts, and outdoor education.
-Coordinate social media and digital marketing campaigns to increase youth and adult attendance in the park.
-Engage youth and adult residents struggling with housing insecurity and substance abuse to connect them with free showers, food shelves, clothing drives, drug rehabilitation agencies, and other social services.
-Conduct camping trips, bicycle tours, and community wide events to locations in Minneapolis’ downtown, Minnesota state parks, and the Elliot Park neighborhood.

Design and lead programs, instructional classes, and community events that create a sense of safety, community, and care for children ages 10-18 and their families. Identify youth enrichment opportunities for field trips, special events, and educational experiences and organize any travel, food, and ticket related affairs. Coordinate with other Youthline staff and MPRB employees to determine ways to serve youth and their families and provide necessary accommodations to increase youth participation. Build strong connections with youth, families, local neighbors, and community organizations through outreach events, digital communications, social media campaigns, and friendly customer service.

-Implement programs, initiatives, festivals, and cultural celebrations that create sense of safety, community, care for children and their families
-Identify and develop youth leaders into new MPRB leaders to further the park’s commitment to community engagement
-Serve as a resource for residents seeking food and shelter assistance. Coordinate dinner services at park during summer months
-Facilitate effective and healthy conflict resolution tactics when needed

Develop and direct outreach and enrichment programs for children aged five to fifteen within the East Phillips/Little Earth community. Coordinate after-school and evening programs that serve as a form of effective community care. Connect children and their families with access to core city services, such as library access, homework help, as well as shelter, food and transportation assistance. Use excellent social and communication skills to effectively communicate across diverse communities.

-Provide regular verbal and written updates to community members, parents, and fellow educators
(memos, portal updates, newsletters, phone calls, emails, website updates, letters home)
-Administered individual education programs (IEPs) and 504 plans as required by Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act
-Manage music department budget by tracking invoices, receipts and grant requests. Responsible for designing programs that came in under-budget.
-Manage multiple concurrent projects, assignments, and responsibilities in fast-paced and demanding environment
-Data collection/entry (surveys, rubrics, grades, instrument inventory, library catalogue)

Directed large concerts, musicals, and program events. Design and implement effective education plans. Managed elementary school music department. Coordinated department meetings and recruited/trained volunteers. Engage community by constructing lessons and music performances that reflect the neighborhood's cultures. Use Restorative Justice framework to build trust between students and community members

Teach and facilitate program of 400 musicians; 3 grades with 5 total sections
Maintain instrument/equipment databases with Microsoft Excel
Provide individualized one-on-one instruction with students in small group rehearsals. Instruct students by providing clear, resourced verbal communication and creating educational presentations and support material

Recommended and coordinated improvements to student instruction and programming for increased comprehension and enjoyment. Prepared detailed rehearsal notes for the conductor. Created plans for continuous improvement. Catalog key documents and supporting project files to a high degree of complexity
