Full-Stack Engineer

During my tenure at MentorMate, I contributed to the development of the Fern Health app (MM client), an innovative health platform, as a
key member of a small, agile team. I played a pivotal role in building the app from the ground up using React Native, focusing on delivering a
seamless user experience. I led the design and implementation of a fully serverless architecture, leveraging AWS services such as Lambda,
DynamoDB, Kinesis, Cognito, and AppSync. This architecture was crucial in delivering a scalable, secure, and responsive application.

I implemented AWS Kinesis to enable real-time analytics within the app, providing valuable insights into user interactions. I also contributed
to the back-end development, utilising AWS API Gateway and Lambda functions to build robust and efficient services.

Additionally, I developed the app’s user interface using React Native and styled-components, ensuring a polished and cohesive visual
experience.

Collaborated effectively with a diverse technology stack, encompassing Java and Node.js microservices orchestrated with Kubernetes (EKS).
As well as serverless technologies.

I actively participated in designing and implementing innovative cloud architectural patterns that led to greater operational efficiency and
cost-effectiveness. AWS resources such as Lambda, CloudFront, DynamoDB, S3, Transfer Family and others were leveraged to create resilient
systems.

I implemented a cost-saving solution by replacing an outdated and expensive EFT server with an AWS Transfer Family SFTP server,
incorporating Lambda functions for PGP encryption. This solution not only reduced costs but also enhanced security.

Utilizing my expertise in Terraform and AWS, I successfully decoupled two applications that shared the same Load Balancer, creating a
separate architecture to ensure they operated independently without interference.

I also implemented third-party integrations, such as with "Stretch," to enable users to book tickets for events through NewsUK apps.
Additionally, I maintained and upgraded the NewsUK apps by updating Terraform, Java, Node, and React Native versions, ensuring the
systems remained up-to-date and secure.

I led the Aurora MySQL engine upgrade across most of the company’s clusters, which resulted in significant AWS cost savings by eliminating
charges for extended support on outdated engine versions.
