React Developer

As a Software Engineer, I am responsible for building the next generation of GovSpend. We’re a Code for America Accelerator company and have an incredible team of seasoned executives and engineers. I work closely with our senior team members to implement critical pieces of our modern, forward-thinking architecture and work with many different technologies as I touch every part of the application’s source code.

Designed modern and fully functional software using ES7 JavaScript and React. Architected and developed web applications, systems, and infrastructure in NodeJS and MongoDB. Worked constructively with the development team to achieve goals by deadline.

Delivered live instruction on frontend (React Native) and backend technologies to over 200 students. Managed a team of associate instructors and facilitators, providing daily support and mentorship. Partnered with the learning sciences department to continuously improve curriculum content and delivery.

- Built an internal inventory tracking tool using react native, barcode scanning and on device machine learning
- Created a local “bar hopping” experience using react native, NestJS and Postgres
- Created a mobile app that allows users to sign in with their local grocery store providers to curate meals and spoilage tracking and order placement
- Build a Cross Platform wedding planner using NextJS and React Native with 95% code reusability across three platforms.
- Built the first generation of an exercise app using react native that connects wirelessly to a device with sensors to track workouts
- Managed over 20 teams in the capacity as technical lead
- Led daily standups, Identified training needs, wrote reports and assessed individual performance based on each individual under my management

Utilized Node and React to build the next generation of an internal system used for building, deploying, analyzing, and caching bankofamerica.com. Introduced observable state and container/template patterns to reduce unnecessary re-renders and improve performance.

Integrated with Facebook Messenger using their alpha Node.js client and connected it to the existing live chat platform via Redis and NSQ. Developed features and maintained components of a real-time chat application.

Developed information systems by designing, developing, and installing software solutions. Evaluated requirements, defined problems, and proposed and implemented effective software solutions.
