I am a bilingual English/Japanese professional with 16 years of experience in Japan across government, international relations, education, and client-facing roles. I have built a career around cross-cultural communication, project coordination, and relationship management in both public and private sector environments.
Most recently, I have focused on supporting Japanese multinational clients in the United States as a Tax Senior at Deloitte Tax LLP. In this role, I expanded a client portfolio from 2 to 27, helped generate more than $2M in annual revenue, and secured over $500K in annual tax savings through negotiations with tax authorities.
I also led a tax notice response project that produced more than $150K in out-of-scope revenue. My work has included delivering presentations in English and Japanese, managing monthly payroll through ADP, and coordinating with global teams to provide accurate and timely support.
Before that, I served as a Tax Delivery Consultant II with Deloitte, where I provided U.S. tax consultation for major Japanese multinational companies, maintained data collection processes, and translated and reviewed Japanese documentation for U.S. tax returns. I have also worked in public-sector roles in Japan, including program management and international relations.
As Program Manager for Cruise Shimizu in the City of Shizuoka, I managed annual budgets of $300K-$600K, organized events for tens of thousands of passengers, and launched new tourism materials in English. In earlier roles, I recruited, trained, and managed large teams of foreign-national English instructors and supported crisis management efforts.
I hold a B.A. magna cum laude in Media Studies and Japanese Studies from the University of San Francisco, along with certifications as an Enrolled Agent, Project Management Professional, and JLPT N1. I am interested in applying my international experience, analytical skills, and bilingual communication strengths to creative and technology-driven environments.
