Technical Lead Backend Engineer

I am a Technical Lead Backend Engineer with more than 14 years of experience building scalable products across banking, risk, compliance, and process automation. I combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership, mentoring, and a strong execution focus.

I have led teams from architecture through delivery, with recent work centered on event-driven microservices platforms, cloud-native data-intensive systems, and AI-assisted workflows in the financial sector. My background includes designing systems that are reliable, scalable, and aligned with business needs.

I work extensively with Java, Spring Boot, Python, FastAPI, React, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, RabbitMQ, and Kubernetes. I also have experience with Azure services, CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and distributed systems patterns such as CQRS and DDD.

In my recent consulting work, I founded and led software delivery for a risk and compliance solution involving web scraping, LLMs, workflow automation, and cloud-native deployment. I also led technical strategy for a global financial crime platform, helping shape architecture, engineering practices, and delivery foundations.

Earlier in my career, I served as a Technical Lead and Engineer on enterprise automation and integration projects for retail and financial services clients. These roles strengthened my ability to design practical solutions, guide teams, and deliver complex systems in demanding environments.

I am based in Azeitão, Setúbal, Portugal, and I work remotely, hybrid, or on-site. I speak Spanish, English, and Portuguese, and I am comfortable contributing in international, cross-functional teams.
