Senior Backend Engineer

Develop and enhance backend services for Omnissa Horizon Connection Server, a core VMware Horizon VDI platform component supporting enterprise virtual desktop deployments. Design scalable Java and Spring services to improve broker reliability, virtual desktop lifecycle management, and communication between Horizon components.

Delivered customer-driven enhancements for Horizon Agent and Connection Server communication, including functionality that allows users to launch multiple desktop instances from the same desktop and application pools. Developed secure REST APIs for administrative SAML certificate management and authentication workflows, investigated production issues, and collaborated with product, QA, and global engineering teams. Use GitHub Copilot and AI-assisted development while maintaining code quality.

Owned backend development for Optical Inventory modules in Cisco EPNM and Cisco EMS, supporting large-scale telecom network management platforms. Designed and delivered Java and Spring Boot services for RON devices, optical inventory, pluggables, and line cards, and built REST APIs for provisioning and managing optical network devices.

Delivered customer-specific capabilities for Tier-1 telecom operators, including PLDT. Improved automated test coverage for Optical modules to more than 60%, managed weekly release artifacts through Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, resolved high-severity security vulnerabilities, and created reusable virtual environments for testing and integration. Received two Spot Awards for technical ownership and delivery excellence.

Developed RESTful APIs in Go for Micro Focus eDirectory, an enterprise LDAP directory service. Developed and maintained core directory-service functionality using Go, C, C++, Java, and LDAP technologies.

Investigated and resolved complex customer-reported production issues through debugging and root cause analysis. Eliminated memory leaks using Dr. Memory, DUMA, and eFence; integrated Fortify Static Code Analyzer into multiple modules; and developed Python modules for the eDirectory Test Automation Framework to automate regression testing.

Designed and implemented Java modules supporting jurisdiction-specific tax calculations. Worked on the migration of Honda infotainment software from Android Lollipop to Android Oreo.

Resolved Android Camera API compatibility issues during the platform migration and improved application stability through debugging, testing, and defect resolution. Collaborated with QA and product teams to deliver successful platform upgrades.
