About

Professional summary

I am a Biomedical Engineering graduate with a BSc Honours degree (Upper Second Class, 2.1) from the University of Zimbabwe. I have a strong foundation in biology, engineering principles, materials science, and clinical instrumentation.

I have hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, calibrating, and repairing medical equipment in a hospital environment. My work has focused on ensuring clinical instruments provide accurate, reliable readings and remain available for patient care.

I am experienced in diagnosing equipment faults, conducting safety and performance testing, maintaining calibration and service records, and providing timely technical support to clinical staff. I also understand the importance of regulatory, quality, and technical documentation in healthcare engineering.

I have contributed to the design and prototyping of sensor-based medical devices, including a modular neonatal incubator monitoring system. I enjoy applying embedded systems, sensor integration, circuit design, and programming to solve practical healthcare challenges.

I work effectively with clinical and technical teams and bring problem-solving, communication, leadership, attention to detail, and professional ethics to my work. I am eager to apply my device design, testing, troubleshooting, and technical support skills in a Biomedical Engineer role.

Career history

Biomedical Engineering Industrial Attachment Beatrice Road Infectious Diseases Hospital

Installed, performed scheduled preventive maintenance on, and repaired medical equipment including autoclaves, blood pressure machines, incubators, infusion pumps, and other diagnostic instruments. Ensured equipment continued to provide accurate and precise clinical readings.

Diagnosed and resolved equipment faults to reduce downtime and support uninterrupted patient care. Led the refurbishment of a non-functional autoclave by repurposing components from defective units, restoring it to full clinical service.

Conducted performance testing and safety inspections against hospital engineering standards. Maintained service records, calibration logs, and technical documentation, while providing daily technical support to clinical staff and contributing technical input to procurement evaluation and medical equipment modernization initiatives.

Innovation and Project Experience University of Zimbabwe Innovation Hub

Designed and developed a modular neonatal incubator monitoring system to support earlier detection of complications in resource-limited hospital settings.

The project applied sensor-based medical device design, embedded systems, and monitoring concepts for neonatal care. It was selected as one of the most innovative projects at the University of Zimbabwe Innovation Research Week 2026.
