I develop components of a distributed data synchronization system between the listings service and the search index for a marketplace. I implemented transactional-outbox-based listing change synchronization, where the listing update and event record are performed within one transaction and a separate worker updates the index. This reduced incidents involving stale listing data after edits or removals by 80% and ensured idempotent event handling during worker failures.
I corrected search-index mappings for approximately 15 listing fields, automated database migration execution with Goose, and reduced schema deployment time from 30 to 5 minutes. I also implemented parallel listing processing using errgroup with a concurrency limit of 20 goroutines, improving processing speed for a batch of 100,000 listings by four times, and added OpenTelemetry tracing for diagnosing latency in the outbox worker event-processing chain.
