About

Professional summary

I am a site reliability, platform, and cloud security engineering leader with more than 20 years of experience keeping production systems reliable, secure, and scalable. My background spans bare-metal data centers, startups, AWS environments, and a multi-regional Google Cloud environment.

I most recently served as Senior Director of Site Reliability Engineering at Sojern, where I owned the Google Cloud organization and remained hands-on for roughly half of my time. I led teams across the United States, Ireland, and India while supporting more than 400 services running on 13 GKE clusters.

I specialize in cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, observability, incident response, networking, and cloud security. I have built and operated highly available systems with demanding SLOs, including a seven-region ingest platform with 99.99% availability targets.

I enjoy turning difficult one-off operational work into repeatable practices through automation, Terraform, AI agents, documentation, and team training. I have led cloud migrations, security remediation, cost optimization, compliance initiatives, and platform modernization programs.

I am open to remote individual contributor and management opportunities in SRE, platform engineering, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and cloud security engineering. I bring both strategic engineering leadership and deep hands-on experience with Google Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes, automation, and production operations.

Career history

Sr Director of Site Reliability Engineering Sojern, Inc.

Led SRE for a $220M ad-tech business through its acquisition by RateGain. Owned the Google Cloud organization and led a distributed team that grew from two to four engineers, then expanded to 11 engineers across the US, Ireland, and India after team mergers. The role was eliminated during an August 2026 reorganization.

Operated 13 production GKE clusters and more than 400 services, including a seven-region ingest tier handling 5,000 to 10,000 events per second. Maintained a 99.99% availability SLO, participated in on-call, led reliability and security incident response, and ran blameless postmortems.

Led cloud platform modernization through Terraform, Codefresh, Argo CD, GitHub Enterprise, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, and Google Cloud services. Designed the migration of 50+ applications from Kubernetes Ingress to Gateway API and implemented security controls including Workload Identity, Secret Manager, External Secrets Operator, IAM governance, and CI/CD security scanning.

Built Vertex AI and ADK-based agents for BigQuery access, IAM drift remediation, Security Command Center triage, migrations, onboarding, and Gemini Enterprise. Also managed data services, supported SOC 2 and PCI DSS audits, and led a cost initiative that identified more than $120K per month in Google Cloud savings.

Infrastructure Engineering Lead The Buckle, Inc.

Managed approximately 400 Linux systems across on-premises VMware and AWS environments supporting Java Spring applications. Codified AWS infrastructure in Terraform and built provisioning pipelines using Chef and Packer.

Designed and deployed a company-wide ELK logging stack. Operated self-hosted GitLab CI, RabbitMQ, MariaDB, and Vault, and migrated microservices to Nomad and Consul.

Partnered with the compliance team on SOX audits by gathering evidence, contributing to policy development, and remediating findings.

DevOps Engineer Extole, Inc.

Migrated production databases to Amazon RDS with zero downtime and moved infrastructure from EC2 Classic to VPC. Automated deployments across four environments using Chef, Ansible, and Jenkins.

Supported DevOps automation and AWS infrastructure modernization for production services in a remote engineering environment.

DevOps Engineer Sojern, Inc.

Joined as part of a startup environment and operated 50 production and 20 development Linux systems on AWS and Rackspace serving more than 40 million daily requests. Built a 24-node Hadoop cluster and an 18-node HBase cluster on EC2 processing more than 20TB of anonymized user data.

Built IPSec VPN connectivity between EC2, offices, and colocation facilities. Supported the growth and operational reliability of a high-volume online platform.

Network Operations Engineer Yesmail / InfoUSA

Led two production infrastructure migrations from physical servers to a VMware private cloud and then to Rackspace Cloud. These migration efforts delivered more than $450K in annual savings.

Supported production network and systems operations in a high-volume email and web infrastructure environment.

Sr Technical Operations Engineer Perceptive Informatics

Managed more than 150 email and web systems handling approximately 70 million emails per day. Supported technical operations, reliability, and production systems for high-volume services.

Worked across server and application infrastructure to maintain operational availability and scalable delivery.

Team Lead, IT Engineer Weather News Americas

Managed 140 RHEL systems supporting more than 300 hosted applications. Led a colocation migration that saved more than $70K annually.

Provided team leadership and systems engineering support for production Linux hosting infrastructure.
