I am excited to apply for the Senior Marketing Automation Manager position at Canonical. With over 7 years of experience in marketing automation and a deep proficiency in Marketo, HubSpot, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud, I have successfully designed and optimized complex lifecycle journeys that drive engagement and conversion. My technical background in Python, SQL, and JavaScript enables me to build scalable workflows and integrate systems seamlessly, aligning with your focus on automation and data-driven decision-making.
I am particularly drawn to Canonical's remote-first culture and pioneer spirit in open source. I thrive in environments that emphasize ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement, and I am eager to contribute to your marketing leadership team. My experience includes leading experimentation programs and developing advanced lead scoring and nurturing frameworks, which I believe will add immediate value to your campaigns.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my skills and passion for technology marketing can support Canonical's mission.
Sample interview questions
I designed a multi-channel nurture workflow for a B2B SaaS company using Marketo and Salesforce. The workflow included lead scoring based on behavior and demographic data, triggered email sequences, and sales alerts. By A/B testing subject lines and content, we increased lead-to-opportunity conversion by 25% and reduced time-to-engagement by 30%.
I start by defining ideal customer profiles and behavior patterns with sales stakeholders. Using Marketo's scoring model, I assign points for explicit actions (e.g., form fills, demo requests) and implicit actions (e.g., email opens, page visits). Segmentation is based on firmographic, behavioral, and lifecycle stage data. I regularly review and adjust scoring thresholds to align with sales feedback and conversion analytics.
I've used Python, SQL, and JavaScript. For example, I used Python to cleanse and deduplicate a large database before importing into Marketo, and SQL to create custom reports that pulled engagement data across CRM and email platforms. JavaScript helped add dynamic content to landing pages based on user cookies.
I led an experiment to optimize email send times for a global audience. We split the audience into four groups based on time zones and tested different send times over two weeks. Using statistical analysis, we found that sending emails at 10 AM local time increased open rates by 15%. The process involved hypothesis formulation, A/B testing, data collection, and iterative refinement.
I follow industry blogs (e.g., MarTech, HubSpot Blog), attend webinars, and participate in online communities. Recently, I implemented predictive lead scoring using machine learning models integrated with Marketo. This allowed us to prioritize leads based on likelihood to convert, improving sales efficiency by 20%.
