Cover letter sample
I am excited to apply for the UI Artist for Games position at Playson. With over 5 years of experience designing visual assets for slot games and promotional materials, I have honed my skills in logo design, layout, typography, and color theory. My proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and ability to create original, optimized assets align perfectly with your needs.
I thrive in collaborative environments and have a track record of working closely with developers and animators to bring designs to life. Your emphasis on creativity and technical precision resonates with my approach to game art. Additionally, my experience with animation tools like Spine and understanding of usability principles would allow me to contribute immediately.
I am particularly drawn to Playson's flexible work culture and commitment to professional development. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my portfolio and skills can support your team in crafting innovative gaming designs. Thank you for your consideration.
Sample interview questions
In my portfolio, I include a project for 'Mystic Spins' where I created all original logos, icons, and symbols. I started with concept sketches, refined based on feedback, and delivered layered Photoshop files for the animators. The game launched successfully and received positive feedback on the visual consistency.
I use organized layer structures, name conventions, and scalable vector formats when possible. I also consider file sizes and create sprite sheets for animations. Regular communication with the development team helps me understand technical constraints and adjust accordingly.
Once, a developer pointed out that my icon set had too many colors for the engine to render efficiently. I collaborated to reduce the palette while maintaining visual impact, and we agreed on a testing phase. The final icons performed better and loaded faster.
I follow blogs like 80.lv and Game Developer, attend GDC talks, and analyze popular slot games for style inspiration. I also experiment with new tools and techniques in my personal projects to keep my skills sharp.
I admire Playson's reputation for innovative and high-quality game designs. The opportunity to work remotely with a flexible schedule and access to professional development resources aligns perfectly with my career goals. I am excited about the chance to contribute to a team that values creativity and technical excellence.
