Cover letter sample

Dear Dispatch Hiring Team,

I am excited to apply for the Senior Fullstack Engineer role and contribute to Dispatch's mission of simplifying data orchestration for financial advisors. My experience delivering scalable, user-focused web applications and owning systems from architecture through production aligns well with the need for strong end-to-end product leadership.

I would bring a pragmatic, customer-centered approach to building onboarding, data-management, and account-opening workflows, while maintaining high standards for reliability, observability, and developer experience. I am particularly energized by the opportunity to work in an early-stage environment where engineering decisions directly shape product strategy and customer outcomes.

I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my technical judgment, execution speed, and collaborative approach can help Dispatch build an exceptional wealth-tech platform.

Sample interview questions
Describe a complex customer-facing feature you owned from initial discovery through production release.

I would explain how I clarified the customer problem and success metrics, collaborated with product and design on scope, designed the technical approach, and delivered in incremental releases. I would also cover production monitoring, user feedback, and the follow-up improvements I made after launch.

How would you approach building a data blending and deconfliction workflow across multiple financial-advisor software systems?

I would begin by defining source-of-truth rules, entity identifiers, data lineage, conflict-resolution policies, and an audit trail. I would build the workflow around idempotent synchronization, clear exception states, human-review paths for ambiguous matches, and monitoring that surfaces integration failures or data-quality regressions.

What practices do you use to maintain high velocity without compromising production quality?

I use small, reversible releases, automated tests at the appropriate layers, feature flags, code review, and observability from the start. I prioritize the highest-risk paths, establish actionable alerts and dashboards, and use incidents or customer feedback to continuously improve the engineering process.

How do you make architecture decisions when product requirements are ambiguous and the company is still early stage?

I identify the assumptions with the greatest impact, validate them quickly with stakeholders, and choose the simplest design that supports the near-term product need without blocking likely evolution. I document key tradeoffs, establish boundaries that can scale independently, and revisit decisions as evidence changes.

How have you helped strengthen engineering culture while remaining a hands-on individual contributor?

I lead through clear technical communication, constructive code reviews, reusable documentation, and a consistent focus on customer impact. I also mentor peers through pairing and design discussions, improve development tooling where it removes friction, and model ownership during launches and operational issues.

About Us

The financial advisory industry is a $80T market in the US, but has seen little technological innovation compared to the self-service market (Robinhood, Betterment, Wealthfront, SoFi). Client data management is a universally painful and expensive problem for financial advisors. Today, advisors manually collect, update, and utilize client data across the 7-10 software tools that they use to run their business. Data transcription and translation across systems is time-consuming and error-prone, leading to costly inefficiencies and embarrassing client-facing problems. Managing data access control, audit logs, and compliance is a constant challenge, particularly in larger organizations.

We are building the first wealth tech data orchestration company. We sync client data across a financial advisor’s tech stack, unlocking the efficiency of a fully-integrated software suite with the choice of tools that best fit their business. We are laser-focused on enabling the best technology experiences for advisors and unlocking the potential of the entire wealth tech software ecosystem. We’re an experienced team of start-up operators with deep roots in both tech and advisory. You can learn more about us on our website.
