About this role.
Headway is seeking a fully licensed, board-certified Psychiatrist to build or expand a private practice through its insurance-enabled care platform. The clinician will retain control over scheduling, caseload, and whether appointments are delivered in person or remotely via telehealth. Headway provides credentialing, billing, payment reconciliation, insurance verification, practice-management tools, and marketing support. Candidates need an NPI number, individual malpractice insurance, and a DEA and/or CDS number or willingness to obtain one. This is a highly autonomous clinical opportunity focused on improving access and affordability for mental healthcare across the United States.

I begin by establishing rapport and completing a structured assessment of presenting concerns, psychiatric and medical history, medications, substance use, psychosocial factors, and safety risks. I then develop a differential diagnosis, discuss treatment options collaboratively, and document a clear, evidence-based care plan with appropriate follow-up.
I use a thorough diagnostic process, review relevant history and available records, check required prescription-monitoring resources, obtain informed consent, and document the clinical rationale for treatment. I set clear monitoring and follow-up expectations, reassess benefits and risks regularly, and follow applicable federal and state requirements.
I confirm patient identity, location, privacy, emergency contacts, and technology readiness at the start of care. I adapt my communication style for a virtual setting, maintain clear documentation, and establish a safety plan and local emergency procedures for patients who may need urgent support.
I would set realistic scheduling boundaries, use standardized documentation and follow-up workflows, and triage appointment urgency based on clinical need. I would also monitor access, no-show patterns, outcomes, and patient feedback so that practice growth never compromises continuity or safety.
