Sample interview questions
How would you create a 30/60/90-day success plan for a new regulator or financial-institution customer?

I would first confirm the customer's operating success metrics, priority use cases, regulatory obligations, users, data-access needs, and decision makers. I would then sequence onboarding and role-based training, establish early adoption and case-quality milestones, and define a regular governance cadence. The plan would include measurable usage, workflow, and outcome indicators, along with owners, risks, and escalation paths.

Describe how you would explain blockchain tracing to a nontechnical compliance executive.

I would begin with the executive's business objective, such as improving suspicious-activity investigations or reducing exposure to sanctioned entities. I would explain that tracing connects transaction activity across addresses and services to reveal patterns, counterparties, and risk signals, while being clear about the evidence and limitations. I would use a relevant, anonymized example and conclude with the operational action their team can take.

A strategic customer has declining usage and may churn. What would you do?

I would validate the signal by reviewing usage by team, workflow, feature, and account segment, then compare it with the customer's stated objectives. I would promptly engage the executive sponsor and operational users to identify blockers such as training gaps, workflow changes, technical issues, or changing priorities. I would document a recovery plan with actions, owners, dates, and measurable adoption targets, while coordinating internally on product or support issues.

How would you handle a customer-reported product bug that affects an active investigation?

I would acknowledge the issue quickly, collect a precise reproduction path and impact details, and assess severity with the customer. I would coordinate with Support, Product, and Engineering through a clearly documented escalation, provide the customer with regular status updates, and offer a safe workaround where possible. Once resolved, I would confirm the fix with the customer, document the outcome, and identify preventive follow-up actions.

How do you identify and responsibly progress an expansion opportunity within a customer account?

I would listen for new teams, jurisdictions, investigative workflows, regulatory requirements, or capacity constraints that TRM could address. I would validate the opportunity against agreed qualification criteria, including business need, stakeholders, timing, expected value, and product fit. I would then log the qualified signal, align with the Account Director on account strategy, and support the customer conversation with relevant outcomes and use cases rather than a generic upsell.
