About this role.
Testlio is building a talent pool for future remote freelance QA Tester contracts rather than filling one immediate opening. The work centers on manual functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, localization, and payment testing across mobile, web, desktop, and API-enabled products. Testers document reproducible defects, prepare test environments and data, and collaborate with Agile stakeholders in distributed teams. Candidates need at least two years of software testing experience, strong English communication, a personal Android or iOS device, and reliable high-speed internet. Engagements may be temporary or ongoing and can be structured as either part-time or full-time contracts depending on project needs.

Sample interview questions
I begin by reviewing the user story, acceptance criteria, supported devices, and known risks. I create a time-boxed charter covering core user flows, edge cases, interruptions, permissions, connectivity changes, and device-specific behavior. I document observations and defects with clear reproduction steps, evidence, expected versus actual results, and severity.
A strong report includes a concise title, test environment and build details, prerequisites, exact steps to reproduce, expected and actual behavior, reproducibility, severity or impact, and supporting screenshots, video, logs, or network traces. It should allow another person to reproduce the issue without additional clarification.
I would assess user impact, frequency, affected platforms, data or payment risk, availability of workarounds, and whether the issue blocks a core workflow. Critical security, payment, data-loss, and crash defects should be escalated immediately, while lower-impact cosmetic issues can be documented for later triage. I would communicate the rationale and risks clearly to stakeholders.
I validate API responses, status codes, authentication, request and response payloads, error handling, and boundary conditions using tools such as Postman or Insomnia. When a frontend issue appears, I compare browser or device network traffic with expected API behavior to determine whether the defect is in the client, service, test data, or environment.
I confirm the updated scope and acceptance criteria quickly, identify the highest-risk areas affected by the change, and adjust my test plan accordingly. I keep test status and blockers visible through the team’s tracking tools and communicate early when a change affects coverage, timelines, or release risk.
