Sample interview questions
How have you built or scaled an in-house legal function at a high-growth technology company?

I would begin by identifying the highest-risk and highest-volume legal work, then establish clear ownership, contracting playbooks, escalation paths, outside-counsel guidelines, and measurable service levels. I would hire experienced legal leaders in the areas most critical to the business, while using technology and standardized processes to keep routine work efficient.

How would you balance sales velocity with legal risk in Legion’s enterprise SaaS agreements?

I would develop a pragmatic contract framework with approved fallback positions, risk-tiering, and a defined escalation process for nonstandard terms. The goal is to empower Sales to close predictable deals quickly while ensuring material positions on liability, security, privacy, IP, and regulatory obligations receive appropriate review.

What is your approach to AI governance for an enterprise software platform?

My approach combines legal requirements, product realities, and customer trust. I would establish an AI governance program covering data use, transparency, model-risk assessment, human oversight, documentation, vendor diligence, incident response, and monitoring of evolving U.S. and international AI regulations.

Describe how you would advise the Board on a significant financing, acquisition, or regulatory risk.

I would provide concise, decision-oriented advice that clearly identifies the legal issue, business impact, options, recommended path, residual risk, and actions required. For significant transactions or risks, I would ensure the Board receives timely materials, preserves appropriate governance records, and has access to specialized external advisers where needed.

How would you manage Legion’s global privacy and data-protection obligations?

I would maintain a scalable privacy program grounded in data mapping, governance policies, vendor and customer contracting standards, security partnership, employee training, and incident-response readiness. I would prioritize compliance with applicable U.S. privacy laws and relevant international requirements based on Legion’s products, customers, data flows, and expansion plans.

BACKGROUND AND OPPORTUNITY

There are almost 75 million hourly workers in the United States, representing more than half of the entire workforce. Historically, managing hourly employees has been difficult due to high attrition (average of 60%) and high replacement costs (average of $3,200 per employee in retail). The ongoing labor shortage and competition from the gig economy, make it more difficult to attract and retain hourly employees. The top reasons hourly employees leave their jobs are a lack of schedule empowerment, poor communication with employers, and an inability to get paid early. Gen Z and the millennial workforce demand gig-like flexibility, modern technology, and compelling work options. Legion’s mission is to turn hourly jobs into good jobs, serving the hourly workers who make up the majority of the US workforce. We believe in empowering employees and helping employers be efficient and innovative by enabling intelligent automation powered by Legion’s Workforce Management platform to optimize labor efficiency and enhance the employee experience simultaneously. Legion WFM was built for the cloud with AI at the core and designed to handle the complexity of modern businesses and meet the needs of today’s hourly employees. Our team is comprised of dedicated individuals from all backgrounds and experiences, globally distributed across all time zones.
