Sample interview questions
How would you explain a critical smart-contract vulnerability to a nontechnical conference audience?

I would begin with the business impact in plain language, use a simple analogy to explain the failure mode, and avoid revealing exploit details that could create risk. I would then describe practical prevention measures, such as independent audits, testing, monitoring, and secure development practices.

Describe your approach to researching an unfamiliar blockchain protocol or decentralized application.

I first map the architecture, trust boundaries, assets, privileged roles, and external dependencies. I then review documentation and code, identify likely threat scenarios, validate hypotheses through testing or tooling, and document findings with reproducible evidence and prioritized remediation guidance.

How do you balance public disclosure with responsible vulnerability handling?

I follow a coordinated-disclosure process: validate the issue, notify affected parties through secure channels, agree on remediation timelines, and avoid sharing exploit-enabling details before a fix is available. Public communication should prioritize user protection, factual accuracy, and clear lessons for the community.

What would you do if an interviewer asked you to comment on an unverified security incident?

I would clearly distinguish verified facts from speculation and avoid attributing cause without evidence. I would explain the general investigation process, recommend appropriate immediate risk-reduction actions, and commit to sharing confirmed information only when it is responsibly available.

How would you use community feedback to improve CertiK products and services?

I would collect recurring questions, objections, and feature requests from conferences, social channels, interviews, and customer conversations. I would synthesize the feedback into actionable themes, share it with relevant teams, and close the loop with the community when improvements or clarifications are delivered.
