The role, at a glance.
Oura is seeking a senior HEOR leader to own the economic evidence strategy supporting its healthcare growth. The role translates clinical and real-world evidence into payer- and employer-ready value propositions, including budget-impact, cost-effectiveness, ROI, and cost-offset models. The lead will shape economic endpoints in future research studies and create evidence packages that can withstand payer, employer, and investor scrutiny. Candidates need an advanced relevant degree, 8+ years of HEOR experience, strong claims-data interpretation skills, and demonstrated payer-facing or employer-facing evidence development. Experience in digital health, wearables, digital biomarkers, and published health-economic research is strongly preferred.

Sample interview questions
I would explain the decision context, target population, comparator, data sources, model structure, assumptions, and sensitivity analyses. I would then quantify the budget or outcome implications and describe how I converted the findings into a concise evidence package that informed stakeholder discussions or prioritization.
I would begin with a transparent conceptual model linking engagement and clinical signals to utilization, productivity, and cost outcomes. I would use the strongest available clinical, real-world, claims, and literature inputs; explicitly document uncertainty; and develop scenario and sensitivity analyses so decision-makers can understand both the expected value and the assumptions driving it.
Credibility depends on a relevant population and comparator, transparent methods, defensible data sources, clinically meaningful endpoints, and clear treatment of uncertainty. I would also ensure assumptions align with the payer’s operational reality, present sensitivity analyses, and communicate results in a format that is concise, decision-oriented, and reproducible.
I would partner with clinical, data science, and operational teams early to define the decision questions and required measures. This typically includes utilization, resource use, work-loss or productivity measures where appropriate, patient-reported outcomes, and data elements needed to estimate costs and model longer-term value.
I would lead with the business decision, the core value conclusion, and the few assumptions that matter most. I would use clear visuals and scenario-based results, reserve technical detail for appendices, and explain uncertainty plainly so executives can act without losing confidence in the analytical rigor.

We are looking for a Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR) Lead to own the economic evidence layer of our clinical outcomes research. In this role reporting to the Director of Clinical Outcomes Research, you will translate Oura’s clinical and real-world evidence into defensible economic value for payers and employers and produce the evidence packages that support our healthcare growth.
What you will do:
- Quantify the economic value of Oura’s healthcare research to help prioritize where evidence investment goes, sizing the opportunities across payer and employer segments.
- Build the economic value case for Oura across healthcare payers and employers, translating clinical and real-world findings into cost, utilization, and workforce outcomes that buyers act on.
- Develop the budget-impact, cost-effectiveness, and ROI models behind that case, building reusable model frameworks that scale as new evidence matures.
- Own the payer- and employer-facing evidence packages that anchor our outcomes research goals, built to withstand payer, employer, and investor scrutiny.
- Partner with research scientists to build economic endpoints into upcoming clinical outcomes research studies, so data collection supports economic analysis.
This is a remote US role.

- A track record generating payer-facing and/or employer-facing economic evidence.
- Fluency interpreting claims-derived cost and utilization data.
- Experience generating real-world evidence in value-based care, care-delivery, primary care, or population-health settings.
- Ability to make rigorous economic work clear and credible to a range of audiences.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strongly preferred:
- Experience with wearable, digital health, or digital biomarker data.
- Published or presented economic research (for example ISPOR, Value in Health, or JMCP), or built payer-grade evidence dossiers.
