Sample interview questions
I would begin with a documented handoff covering the sold scope, stakeholder map, state footprint, plaintiff-client mix, integrations, reporting needs, and commitments. I would then establish configuration and readiness milestones, identify dependencies such as e-filing registration and bulk-upload formatting, and create a shared risk log. Before volume ramps, I would confirm that platform behavior, reporting, and exception processes align with the contract and schedule regular operating reviews.
I would validate the trend in the underlying data, isolate the affected states, job types, vendors, or workflow steps, and assess customer impact. I would immediately convene the relevant internal operations and solutions partners with a specific problem statement, owner assignments, and recovery timeline. I would proactively communicate the issue and action plan to the client, then monitor metrics closely and document preventive changes after stabilization.
I would use account data, business reviews, stakeholder conversations, and knowledge of the firm's operating model to identify unmet needs such as additional jurisdictions, plaintiff clients, or service types. I would quantify the operational and business value, confirm platform and delivery readiness, and develop a scoped proposal with pricing and implementation requirements. Once agreed, I would lead the onboarding plan and track adoption against the expected expansion outcome.
I use a consistent account operating cadence supported by a current CRM, account plans, action registers, and health dashboards. Every meeting ends with named owners and due dates, while material risks are categorized by severity and reviewed in a weekly portfolio prioritization process. I reserve time for proactive analysis so urgent requests do not displace renewal planning, relationship building, and expansion work.
I would prioritize the active jurisdictions and highest-volume workflows in my assigned accounts, using internal subject-matter experts, documented procedures, and authoritative state resources. I would translate that knowledge into practical account guidance on valid service, filing timelines, affidavit requirements, and alternative-service options. I would also maintain a jurisdictional reference and escalate legal interpretations to the appropriate expert rather than making unsupported assumptions.

We’re Proof, a high-growth startup in the legal tech industry, founded in 2017. We offer a best-in-class legal services platform used by thousands of law firms and property management companies. Our platform enables law firms and collections parties to access efficient, transparent, and accessible legal and document delivery services, traditionally out of reach. We are on a path to double our business this year and are building a team to help us scale rapidly.
We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who are eager to help build a future where legal services are readily accessible, affordable, and efficient. If you have curiosity, passion, and a collaborative spirit to drive change in an outdated industry, we want you on our team.
About the Role:
We are hiring an Account Manager to own the post-contract relationship for our Creditors’ Rights accounts. You take the handoff from the sales team at contract signing and own everything from there: onboarding, ramp, retention, and growth. New logos are assigned to you throughout the year as they close.
The firms you will be managing file thousands of cases a month across multiple states, run formal audit programs, and hold their vendors to documented SLAs. You need to know their workflow, their plaintiff clients, and their operational requirements.
The right person is organized, proactive, and comfortable with operational complexity. You do not wait for clients to surface problems. You understand what good looks like for a creditors’ rights firm and you hold Proof accountable to it.
What You’ll Do:
Onboarding and Scoping
- Take the handoff from the Account Executive at contract signing and lead the firm through onboarding.
- Define state footprint, plaintiff client mix, reporting requirements, serve attempt rules, e-filing setup, and exception handling.
- Set ramp milestones, volume targets, and reporting cadence with the firm in the first 30 days. Document and share these internally so every team member knows what was committed.
- Ensure the platform is configured to match what was sold. What the contract says and what the system does need to be the same thing.
- Identify and resolve onboarding blockers early, whether that is alt-service setup, e-filing registration, bulk upload format, or platform access, before they delay volume.
- Partner with the Solutions Architect to ensure customer success.
Retention and Account Health
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for your accounts. You are the person a Managing Partner or Director of Operations reaches out to when something is wrong, and you own getting it resolved.
- Maintain a regular communication cadence, monthly reviews for core accounts and formal QBRs for enterprise accounts.
- Monitor account health: serve rate, filing SLA adherence, volume trends, open job aging, complaint rate. Surface negative trends before the client does.
- Flag at-risk accounts early and escalate internally with enough specificity that the team can act on it.
Expansion and Growth
- Find and develop expansion opportunities within your existing book. New states, new plaintiff clients, new service types.
- You own the commercial conversation on expansion. You identify the opportunity, you propose and negotiate the expanded scope, and you onboard it.
- Own renewal conversations. You know the account better than anyone and you are responsible for making the case for renewal and negotiating the terms.
Platform and Industry Fluency
- Develop deep knowledge of the Proof platform. You need to know what it can do, what it cannot, how to configure it correctly, and where the edge cases are.
- Understand the end-to-end service of process workflow: job creation, server assignment, attempt cadence, affidavit generation, e-filing, and billing.
- Learn the state-specific service of process rules for your accounts’ active jurisdictions. At minimum, you should know what constitutes valid service, what the filing SLA is, and what alt-service options exist.
What You’ll Bring:
Required
- 3 or more years of account management or client services experience in a B2B environment. Experience working with creditors’ rights law firms, law firms generally, or in the legal services space is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational discipline. You manage a multi-account book without dropping things, keep your notes and CRM current, and close every open item.
- Clear, direct communication skills. You can write a straightforward status update to a Managing Partner and a clear internal escalation to an ops team in the same afternoon.
- Proactive mindset. You surface problems before they become crises. You do not wait for a client to bring you something you should have caught.
- Comfort with operational complexity. This is not a role where the product does everything cleanly. You will regularly manage billing exceptions, filing delays, alt-service disputes, and e-filing issues.
- Ability to learn new legal and regulatory frameworks quickly. You do not need to be an expert on day one, but you need to get there fast.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience working with creditors’ rights law firms or in the broader law firm space. You understand how these firms operate, who makes decisions, and what matters to them.
- Familiarity with service of process: service attempts, affidavit of service, e-filing, substituted service. Or a demonstrated ability to get fluent within 60 days.
- Prior experience with legal technology platforms, case management software, or process serving systems.
- Exposure to compliance-driven client relationships with audit programs, vendor questionnaires, SLA reporting requirements, and formal review cadences.
Why Proof
The Market
Creditors’ rights firms are under increasing pressure to use vendors that can document clean service, hold up under audit, and file on time across multiple jurisdictions. Proof is purpose-built for that environment. The firms filing the most cases are actively looking for a better solution, and we are the platform positioned to win that business.
The Role
The creditors’ rights team is small and moving fast. You will have direct visibility into every account, direct access to the leadership making product and operational decisions, and real ownership over outcomes. This is not a role where you manage a queue.
Compensation
- $130,000 base salary ($170,000 OTE)
Benefits
- Medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, and 401k available
- Work-from-home monthly stipend
- Flexible time off (paid planned and sick time, and paid holidays)
- Necessary equipment provided
