Sample interview questions
I would begin with listening sessions with the CEO and key functional leaders, then synthesize the business strategy, proof points, stakeholder concerns, and reputational risks into a concise narrative platform. From there, I would build a channel and moment map covering earnings, media, social, employee communications, industry events, and reactive scenarios, with clear measures for message consistency and impact.
I use structured interviews, review prior speeches and communications, and identify the leader's recurring language, point of view, rhythm, and decision-making principles. I share drafts early, incorporate feedback systematically, and maintain a voice guide so content remains authentic while meeting the needs of the audience and business moment.
I would assess the announcement's strategic importance, stakeholder expectations, reputational sensitivity, and whether the CEO can add a distinctive perspective. CEO-led communication is most valuable when the news represents a major strategic commitment, transformation, or values-based moment; functional leaders or the brand should lead when their expertise or operational ownership is more credible.
I would first clarify the timely news hook, audience relevance, differentiated point of view, and evidence behind the story. Then I would tailor outreach to journalists whose coverage and audience align with the narrative, prepare a well-briefed spokesperson and supporting materials, and maintain a disciplined follow-up process while prioritizing long-term reporter relationships.
I would quickly triage each request based on business impact, deadline, audience risk, and executive dependency, then make priorities and tradeoffs visible to stakeholders. I would establish a decision owner, create a clear workflow for approvals, and communicate concise status updates so urgent work progresses without compromising accuracy or strategic alignment.
