Sample interview questions
I would start by aligning metrics to the product's value for artists, labels, listeners, and Spotify. I would define a north-star outcome such as incremental qualified listener engagement, then pair it with supporting metrics for adoption, campaign setup completion, downstream listening behavior, and guardrails such as listener satisfaction or negative engagement signals.
I would first clarify the decision and causal question, then design an experiment with a well-defined treatment, control group, eligibility criteria, and primary metrics. I would validate randomization and instrumentation, estimate treatment effects with confidence intervals, assess heterogeneous effects across relevant segments, and communicate both business impact and limitations before recommending a rollout decision.
I would interview users and internal partners to identify their most important decisions, questions, and reporting cadence. I would define trusted metric specifications, develop reliable modeled data in DBT or BigQuery, create intuitive Tableau views with useful filters and definitions, and monitor adoption and data quality after launch.
In a strong example, I would explain the initial business question, the datasets and methods used, and how I identified a meaningful behavioral pattern. I would then describe the recommendation, how I tailored the narrative for product stakeholders, and the resulting experiment, product change, or measurable business outcome.
I begin with the decision rather than the methodology: what we learned, the expected impact, and the recommended next step. I use plain-language comparisons and visualizations, explain uncertainty honestly, and keep technical details available in an appendix or follow-up discussion for stakeholders who need them.
