Sample interview questions
I first review the source and target specifications, identify mandatory fields and business rules, and create a field-level mapping document. I then build the transformation incrementally, test with representative files including edge cases, and document assumptions, validation rules, and error handling.
I would reproduce the issue using the original input, inspect validation errors and mapping logs, and compare the generated output against the target specification. After identifying whether the problem is data quality, transformation logic, or a schema requirement, I would apply and test a focused fix before documenting the root cause.
I would confirm the applicable local schema, mandatory tax fields, identifiers, validation rules, transport requirements, and effective dates. I would keep country-specific logic modular, use version-controlled mapping documentation, and validate outputs against official examples or test environments where available.
I have used structured formats to analyze source data, define transformations, validate required fields, and troubleshoot interoperability issues. I am comfortable navigating nested XML or JSON structures, handling CSV formatting constraints, and ensuring data types and business semantics are preserved across mappings.
I prioritize work by customer impact, deadlines, dependencies, and risk, while keeping tickets updated with clear status and next steps. I use reusable mapping patterns, peer review where appropriate, and disciplined testing and documentation to reduce avoidable defects.
