Sample interview questions
I establish a jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction compliance calendar, assign clear ownership between internal teams and external advisers, and use standardized review checklists. I monitor filing status, reconcile key tax balances to the general ledger, and escalate technical or data issues early to protect deadlines and filing accuracy.
I have supported provision processes by calculating current and deferred taxes, assessing uncertain tax positions, reconciling effective tax rates, and documenting conclusions for review. I work closely with accounting to ensure that source data, deferred-tax schedules, and disclosures are complete and consistent with U.S. GAAP requirements.
I would first map each entity's activities, people, contracting authority, and customer-facing operations by country. I would then evaluate the facts against local law, treaty provisions, and OECD guidance, identify exposure areas, and partner with legal and external advisers on documentation, operating-model changes, or registration requirements.
I create a centralized audit tracker, preserve a clear record of information requests and deadlines, and coordinate responses with finance, legal, and advisers. I focus on providing consistent, well-supported documentation while keeping leadership informed of technical positions, potential exposure, and recommended actions.
I would begin with a concise business-focused summary of the issue, jurisdictions affected, financial exposure, timing, and decision required. I would then provide supporting technical analysis and practical options, clearly distinguishing confirmed facts, assumptions, and items requiring external advice.
