The role, at a glance.
saas.group is hiring a German-speaking Performance Marketing Lead to set paid-acquisition strategy and quality standards across a portfolio of more than 25 B2B SaaS brands. The role combines hands-on ownership of high-value Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, and LinkedIn Ads accounts with leadership of an external PPC freelancer network. Key work includes campaign and landing-page testing, budget governance, account audits for newly acquired brands, and standardized reporting and tracking. The lead will partner with analytics on attribution, CRM conversion flows, and offline conversion imports, while advising brands on channel strategy and realistic budget allocation. Success requires fluent German and English, deep B2B lead-generation expertise, strong measurement skills, and comfort operating autonomously in a remote environment.

Sample interview questions
I would first document current spend, campaign structure, conversion definitions, historical performance, and active automated rules before making changes. I would validate tracking end to end, compare platform data with CRM outcomes, identify immediate risks such as broken tags or wasteful spend, and prioritize changes by expected impact and reversibility. I would then implement improvements in controlled stages with clear baselines and stakeholder reporting.
I focus on qualified leading indicators rather than raw click or form volume. This includes tightly segmented intent-based keywords, clear negative-keyword management, offline conversion imports, CRM stages, and channel-specific lead-quality feedback. Where data is sparse, I use disciplined testing, audience and query analysis, and budget concentration on the highest-intent opportunities.
I would establish a shared operating framework covering account structure, naming conventions, tracking requirements, budget approval, reporting cadence, testing documentation, and escalation paths. Regular account reviews would focus on the reasoning behind decisions, not only dashboard metrics. I would combine these standards with brand-specific flexibility so specialists can adapt to each product's market and funnel.
I would evaluate LinkedIn against the brand's target-account fit, audience reach, sales cycle, CRM progression, and incremental cost per qualified opportunity rather than top-of-funnel lead volume alone. I would run controlled tests with clear hypotheses on audience, offer, and creative, then compare downstream quality with search and other channels. I would recommend scaling only when attribution evidence and capacity to follow up support the investment.
I would use AI to accelerate research, search-query categorization, creative ideation, reporting analysis, and documentation, while retaining human review for strategy, factual accuracy, brand voice, and policy compliance. For German copy, I would validate language nuance and local relevance before launch. I would also create repeatable prompts and QA checks so AI improves workflow consistency rather than introducing uncontrolled variation.

Profile Overview
At saas.group paid acquisition across our portfolio runs through a small network of experienced PPC freelancers. We’re looking for a German-speaking Performance Marketing Lead to oversee this: someone who owns the standards, strategy and quality bar for paid across our portfolio, from accounts ranging from small to large monthly budgets. The role goes beyond people-management, with continued hands-on responsibilities. You’ll set the systems and direction and lead the freelancer network, but you’ll also be in the accounts yourself on the most valuable brands, and you’ll be the person we trust to judge whether the work being done is actually good. If you want real ownership of a function where your work impacts 25+ brands, this is that role.
Your immediate impact in the first 3-6 months will be:
- Take ownership of our most valuable paid accounts and demonstrably move performance, while keeping smaller-budget accounts efficient.
- Set a consistent standard across all brand accounts: how campaigns are structured, how conversions are tracked, how performance is reported, so there’s a consistent quality bar across the whole portfolio.
- Take over the paid accounts of a newly acquired brand cleanly: audit, tracking check and handover with no performance dip.
Your responsibilities
- Own paid performance strategy and standards across the portfolio, and run the most valuable accounts hands-on yourself (Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, LinkedIn, and others), including ad copy and landing page testing.
- Lead and support our PPC freelancers: set targets, review accounts, approve budgets, run regular syncs, challenge the “why” behind decisions, and keep the rest of marketing in the loop.
- Advise brands directly on strategy and budget allocation, with the ability to push back, manage expectations and tell a brand honestly when a channel or budget won’t deliver.
- Take over newly acquired brands’ paid setups and build the systems, documentation and reporting that let performance scale across more brands and freelancers without losing the quality bar.
- Partner closely with our data analytics team on tracking, attribution and the flow of CRM data back into the ad platforms, and support the M&A team on due diligence for paid-heavy acquisition targets.
- Regularly connect with the SEO Team Lead to remain aligned with campaigns and strategies.
What you bring to the table
- Several years owning paid budgets (think €1M+ a year) while staying genuinely hands-on: you can open an account, diagnose it and run the full campaign yourself.
- Demonstrated B2B lead-gen experience on search: comfortable with low conversion volumes, long sales cycles and optimising for lead quality over click counts (B2B SaaS, B2B or adjacent backgrounds such as gaming portfolios are welcome, as long as you can translate them to B2B).
- A track record across very different budget sizes, from a few thousand a month to six figures a month, making small budgets work through sharp targeting and prioritisation rather than leaning on automated bidding.
- Deep Google Ads and Microsoft Ads expertise, strong LinkedIn Ads experience, and the curiosity to pick up new platforms as brands need them. You’re also confident with the measurement stack behind paid: GA4, Google Tag Manager, offline conversion imports and CRM integration. Experience with ChatGPT ads is a bonus.
- German at C1 or native: strong enough to write compelling German ad copy, alongside fluent English.
- Genuine AI fluency, and the drive to put it to work. You already use AI tools (Claude especially) in your day-to-day, and you’re the kind of person who looks for where they can sharpen paid performance, from research and analysis to campaign and reporting workflows.
What’s in it for you
- Ultimate flexibility: We’re 100% remote. You can work from wherever you like, whenever you like.
- Freedom and autonomy: We’re a high-trust team, and you’ll be given lots of flexibility to solve problems in your own way – with plenty of help from the team when you need it.
- Minimum bureaucracy: We don’t like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable.
- Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and joke around.
- Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning and expertise with each other internally.
- Flexible time off: We want you to recharge your batteries when needed.
We don’t just simply offer you to “take a job with us” but rather to “join us on this journey” to build the world’s largest platform of independent SaaS companies.
Sounds like something you’re up for? Feel free to apply even if you don’t check all these boxes. We believe in the power of diversity and fresh perspectives to spice up our team. Your application might just be the missing ingredient!
