Sample interview questions
I begin by clarifying the game feature, intended player feedback, visual style, and technical limits. I create a quick motion test or animatic, gather feedback from art and product stakeholders, then build the final animation in the agreed toolset. Before handoff, I export according to technical specifications, test it in context with developers, and refine timing, readability, and performance.
I use Spine’s skeletal workflow, meshes, constraints, skins, and reusable animation states to reduce the number of raster assets while keeping motion flexible. I organize rigs and naming consistently, avoid unnecessary complexity, and work with engineers on export settings and runtime requirements. I also validate that transitions, draw order, and effects behave correctly in the target game environment.
Effective slots animation is immediately readable, reinforces the game state, and creates anticipation and reward without obscuring gameplay. I pay close attention to timing, loops, win celebrations, symbol hierarchy, and visual clarity across different device sizes. I also ensure the style supports the game theme and that larger effects remain performant and purposeful.
I first separated the feedback into visual goals, implementation constraints, and non-negotiable requirements. I presented a small number of practical alternatives, explaining the trade-offs in quality, production time, and performance. This usually helped the group agree on a solution that retained the creative intent while remaining feasible for the game.
I prioritize work by player impact, delivery dependencies, and risk, then break each task into reviewable milestones. I rely on reusable rigs, templates, and naming conventions to work efficiently while reserving time for in-game validation. Frequent check-ins with the team allow me to surface blockers early and prevent late-stage rework.
