Sample interview questions
How have you balanced people leadership with remaining technically engaged in architecture and delivery decisions?

I establish clear ownership boundaries so senior engineers lead implementation while I stay involved in architectural trade-offs, operational risks, and technical strategy. I use design reviews, delivery metrics, and regular coaching to unblock teams without becoming a bottleneck.

Describe a time you improved predictability for a software engineering team with changing priorities.

I introduced a regular planning cadence, clarified success metrics, separated committed work from discovery work, and made dependencies visible. This enabled transparent trade-off discussions with product partners and improved on-time delivery without sacrificing quality.

How would you approach managing teams working across mobile and backend platforms for a shared customer experience?

I would align teams around customer outcomes, shared API and quality standards, and an integrated roadmap. Regular cross-team architecture reviews, joint planning, and common release metrics would help manage dependencies while preserving each team’s ownership.

What is your approach to adopting AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly?

I would begin with high-value workflows such as documentation, test generation, code review support, and developer enablement. Adoption should include secure-tooling standards, measurable productivity and quality outcomes, training, and human accountability for all production decisions.

How do you communicate complex technical issues to executives and non-technical stakeholders?

I translate technical details into customer impact, business risk, delivery implications, options, and a recommended decision. I use concise status reporting with KPIs and make clear where stakeholder input or trade-offs are required.
