The role, at a glance.
MaintainX is hiring a Senior Product Designer to lead end-to-end design of AI-powered web and mobile workflows for industrial frontline users. The role focuses on translating ambiguous AI opportunities, including natural-language interfaces, agents, and predictive insights, into intuitive B2B SaaS product experiences. The designer will partner closely with product, engineering, and other designers while contributing reusable patterns and a scalable design system. Success requires strong visual and interaction design craft, systems thinking, executive-level storytelling, and at least six years of enterprise or B2B product design experience.

Sample interview questions
I would explain the user problem, the AI capability chosen, and the design decisions that made its behavior clear, such as transparent inputs, confidence cues, editable outputs, and recovery paths. I would also share how I validated comprehension and trust through usability testing, product metrics, and iteration.
I begin by clarifying the user workflow, failure points, desired outcome, and constraints with product and engineering. I then frame assumptions as testable hypotheses, explore multiple concepts at low fidelity, and use prototypes or research to identify the smallest useful AI-assisted experience before scaling it.
I would prioritize the technician's immediate context: asset, symptom, urgency, safety requirements, and available history. The experience would offer concise, actionable guidance with source context, allow the technician to confirm or correct recommendations, and provide an easy escalation path when confidence is low.
I distinguish between feature-specific work and recurring patterns that should become shared primitives. I document rationale, accessibility requirements, interaction states, and usage guidance, then work with designers and engineers to validate that additions are reusable without delaying critical delivery.
I connect decisions to user evidence, business outcomes, technical constraints, and the product strategy rather than personal preference. I communicate the trade-offs clearly, use prototypes to make the discussion concrete, invite targeted feedback, and identify decisions that need alignment versus those that can be tested.
About this role.
MaintainX is a leading mobile-first work execution platform for industrial and frontline teams. More than 13,000 customers, including Duracell, McDonald’s, Shell, DHL and Volvo, use MaintainX to cut unplanned downtime and run better operations, across 13.9 million managed assets and 79.5 million completed work orders.
In August 2026 MaintainX became part of Autodesk, joining Autodesk Operations Solutions, the organization unifying Autodesk’s operations platform alongside Tandem, FlexSim and Fusion Operations. Autodesk’s strategy is to converge design, make and operate into one continuous lifecycle: design an asset, build it, run it, then feed what you learn running it back into the next design. Autodesk had design and make. Operate is the phase that tells you what actually happened, and it is ours.
We’re growing fast and hiring the Design talent to match.
We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who combines exceptional craft with deep product thinking to shape MaintainX’s AI-first product experience. You’ll lead end-to-end design across web and mobile, partnering with Product Managers, Engineers, and designers to turn complex workflows into simple, intuitive tools for frontline workers.
What You’ll Do
Own end-to-end design for AI-powered product surfaces across web and mobile — from problem framing through high-fidelity delivery.
Design AI-powered experiences for frontline users like maintenance technicians and facility managers, making workflows simpler and smarter without adding complexity.
Translate ambiguous, fast-moving AI problem spaces into clear, testable design solutions in close partnership with product and engineering.
Think in systems: spot patterns, build for reuse, and contribute to our design system with a focus on consistency, scalability, and high craft.
Present design work with clear rationale, integrate feedback from stakeholders, and champion high quality across the product lifecycle.
Use AI tools in your own design process to accelerate your work and push the quality ceiling of your output.
About You
6+ years of product design experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise platforms.
Hands-on experience designing AI-powered features such as natural language interfaces, agents, and predictive insights for real users solving real problems.
Exceptional visual and interaction design skills with a sharp eye for typography, spacing, color, layout, and motion.
A systems thinker who naturally spots patterns, builds for reuse, and considers how design decisions scale across a product.
Excellent communication and storytelling skills to articulate design intent, navigate ambiguous product spaces, and influence cross-functional peers.
An expert level of English, both spoken and written, is required, as the individual will need to work across multiple teams and present work to executive stakeholders.
Our mission is to keep the physical world running. Factories, fleets, hospitals and campuses stay up because the people who maintain them have tools worth using. That is what we build.
Compensation and benefits. Base pay is one part of the package. Depending on the role, compensation may also include commission, an annual bonus and equity. Benefits differ by country. For roles in the United States, Autodesk’s benefits are described at benefits.autodesk.com. For roles in Canada and other countries, the plan differs on health coverage, retirement and leave, and your recruiter will walk you through it.
Belonging. We take pride in a culture where everyone can thrive. More at autodesk.com/company/global-belonging. More on where this is going: Autodesk CEO Andrew Anagnost on building the future of connected operations, and AOS SVP Stephen Hooper on welcoming MaintainX to Autodesk.
