Sample interview questions
I first identify the jurisdictions, the proposed business outcome, and the highest-risk issues. I provide a practical baseline recommendation, clearly distinguish mandatory local requirements from best practices, and engage local counsel early where country-specific interpretation is needed. I then communicate options, risks, and recommended next steps in concise business language.
I begin by defining the allegation, scope, investigation plan, privilege considerations, and decision-makers. I ensure interviews and evidence collection are fair, confidential, and appropriately documented, while assessing local procedural requirements. I provide fact-based findings and proportionate recommendations, then help stakeholders implement corrective actions consistently.
I would map the impacted jurisdictions, employee populations, timelines, consultation duties, and works council or union requirements before implementation. I would partner closely with HR, finance, and local counsel to build a legally compliant project plan that preserves business objectives. Throughout the process, I would maintain clear governance, consistent documentation, and escalation for material risks.
I set a precise scope, desired outcome, timeline, and budget expectations at the outset. I ask counsel for concise, commercially oriented advice that identifies legal requirements, risk levels, and actionable options rather than only reciting the law. I remain accountable for the internal recommendation and use counsel strategically for local expertise, litigation, or novel issues.
I frame advice around the decision the leader needs to make, explain the risk in plain language, and offer clear options with recommended actions. I avoid unnecessary legal terminology while documenting key assumptions and jurisdictional constraints. This approach helps leaders move quickly while understanding the legal and employee-relations implications.
