Sample interview questions
Tell us about a consumer product you took from an early idea to product-market fit.

I would describe the original user problem, the assumptions we needed to test, and the smallest experiment we launched. I would explain how qualitative feedback and behavioral data changed the product direction, then quantify the retention, engagement, or revenue outcomes that demonstrated product-market fit.

How would you identify the next major product opportunity for ClassDojo's family and child network?

I would begin with segmentation and research across children, parents, and educators to identify high-frequency unmet needs. I would combine this with funnel and retention data, evaluate strategic fit with the network, and prioritize a small number of testable opportunities based on user value, scale potential, and feasibility.

Describe a time you monetized a consumer product without harming user trust.

I would explain how I identified a willingness-to-pay moment that was aligned with customer value rather than a barrier to core use. I would discuss testing pricing, packaging, and messaging with clear success guardrails for conversion, retention, satisfaction, and long-term engagement.

How do you make decisions when data is incomplete and the team needs to move quickly?

I define the decision, articulate the key assumptions, and distinguish reversible from irreversible choices. For reversible decisions, I favor a fast experiment with clear learning goals; for larger bets, I use available evidence, customer insight, and strategic principles to make a recommendation and revisit it as new data arrives.

How would you align founders, engineering, marketing, and product around a new long-term initiative?

I would create a concise narrative that links the customer problem, strategic opportunity, proposed bet, evidence, and measurable outcomes. I would involve each function early to surface constraints and ownership, then maintain alignment through explicit decisions, milestones, and regular communication about learnings and tradeoffs.
