Sample interview questions
How have you managed an agency-level media investment agreement from negotiation through value realization?

I begin by defining the commercial objectives, commitment structure, eligible spend, incentives, ownership, and measurement criteria. After negotiations, I convert the agreement into a documented activation plan with clear pacing, reporting, reconciliation, and escalation processes. I review performance regularly with internal teams and the partner to ensure earned value is captured and deployed against client and agency priorities.

How would you evaluate whether an upfront commitment or Joint Business Plan is commercially worthwhile?

I would assess historical and forecasted spend, client demand, partner performance, opportunity cost, margin implications, and the certainty of realizing incentives or added value. I would model several scenarios, including under-delivery risk and the operational cost of fulfillment. A strong agreement should create measurable incremental value while maintaining flexibility and avoiding commitments that cannot be responsibly paced or activated.

Describe how you would build reporting for a growing media investment function.

I would establish a centralized source of truth for agreements, commitments, pacing, earned value, deployed value, outstanding credits, risks, and ownership. Reporting would include executive-level views of commercial performance and operational views for activation and reconciliation teams. I would standardize definitions and controls first, then automate recurring data flows and exception alerts where possible.

How do you influence cross-functional stakeholders when commercial priorities conflict?

I align stakeholders around shared facts, including financial impact, client value, contractual obligations, operational capacity, and risk. I make trade-offs explicit, present practical options, and recommend a path that protects both long-term partner relationships and business outcomes. Clear decision rights, documented owners, and regular follow-up are essential for maintaining accountability.

What role can AI and automation play in media investment operations?

AI and automation can reduce manual work in spend forecasting, pacing analysis, agreement tracking, reconciliation preparation, and opportunity identification. I would prioritize reliable data foundations and human review for material commercial decisions, rather than automating judgment without controls. The goal is to give teams faster visibility into risks, unused value, and actions needed to improve realization.
