Sample interview questions
Describe a Power Platform solution you built to replace or improve a manual business process.

I would explain the original workflow, the users and systems involved, and how I designed the Power Apps interface and Power Automate flows. I would also describe error handling, permissions, testing, adoption metrics, and the measurable reduction in manual work or processing time.

How do you approach an ambiguous request from a product manager or federal-program stakeholder?

I begin by identifying the desired outcome, user groups, constraints, data sources, and success measures. I turn assumptions into explicit questions, propose a small viable approach or prototype, and validate it early before expanding the solution.

How would you troubleshoot a Power Automate flow that intermittently fails in production?

I would review run history, connector responses, inputs, retry behavior, permissions, and any data patterns associated with failures. After isolating the cause, I would implement appropriate validation, logging, error branches, and alerts, then verify the fix with representative test cases.

What factors determine whether you use a low-code solution versus custom frontend or backend code?

I assess security, data complexity, integration requirements, performance, maintainability, governance, licensing, and user experience needs. I use low-code where it provides a supported and maintainable advantage, while choosing custom engineering when requirements exceed platform capabilities or need stronger control.

How do you maintain engineering quality while delivering quickly in an Agile remote team?

I break work into small, testable increments and make requirements and tradeoffs visible early. I use peer review, consistent standards, documentation, automated checks where possible, and frequent communication to prevent quality issues from accumulating.
