Sample interview questions
How have you managed direct and indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions?

I build a jurisdictional compliance calendar, clarify ownership between internal teams and advisers, and use documented review controls for returns, filings, and payments. I also monitor legislative changes and convert them into practical actions before they affect filing positions or operations.

Describe your approach to transfer pricing documentation and intercompany pricing.

I begin by understanding the operating model, functions, assets, and risks of each entity. I then ensure agreements, benchmarking, markup calculations, and local documentation are aligned, while establishing a regular process to review whether the pricing remains consistent with the business and tax model.

How would you support Sales in structuring a cross-border customer deal?

I would engage early to understand the customer location, contracting entity, delivery model, invoicing flow, and applicable indirect-tax requirements. I would provide clear options that balance commercial objectives with VAT, withholding-tax, permanent-establishment, and transfer-pricing risks.

Tell us about a time you managed a tax audit or inquiry from a tax authority.

I would organize the factual record, confirm the technical position, coordinate relevant internal and external stakeholders, and maintain a disciplined response timeline. My focus would be on clear evidence, consistent communication, and early escalation of material exposures or settlement decisions.

How do you identify and mitigate tax risk in a high-growth international company?

I use periodic risk assessments that combine compliance status, transaction changes, entity growth, and regulatory developments. I prioritize risks by likelihood and impact, assign accountable owners, and implement practical controls such as approval checkpoints, documentation standards, and targeted training.
