Sample interview questions
How would you design a test-versus-control study to measure the impact of a sponsored healthcare engagement program?

I would first define the intervention, target clinician population, outcome metrics, and measurement window. I would construct a comparable control group using appropriate matching or stratification variables, assess pre-period balance, and use methods such as difference-in-differences or ANCOVA to estimate incremental impact while controlling for confounders. I would document assumptions, sensitivity tests, and limitations so stakeholders can interpret the results responsibly.

What are common limitations of HCP prescription and claims data, and how do you account for them?

Common limitations include reporting lags, incomplete payer or channel coverage, attribution uncertainty, provider-identification changes, and differences among vendor methodologies. I address these through data-quality checks, clear cohort definitions, vendor documentation review, triangulation with other sources when available, and transparent communication of coverage gaps and confidence levels.

Describe how you would explain a complex statistical finding to a brand marketing client.

I would begin with the business question and state the conclusion in plain language, such as whether the program produced a measurable incremental change. I would then use a concise visual to show the comparison, quantify the effect and uncertainty, and explain the methodology only to the level needed for the audience. Finally, I would connect the result to practical next steps, such as audience refinement, creative testing, or budget allocation.

How have you used SQL and Python together in an analytics workflow?

I use SQL to join, filter, aggregate, and validate large datasets efficiently in the warehouse. I then use Python for reproducible statistical analysis, feature engineering, modeling, visualization, and automated reporting. I maintain clear version-controlled code, validation checks, and documented metric definitions so results can be audited and reused.

How would you manage an external analytics vendor such as a healthcare data provider?

I would establish clear study objectives, data specifications, timelines, quality criteria, governance requirements, and success measures at the outset. During delivery, I would review methodology, reconcile data definitions, monitor milestones, and challenge results constructively when findings or assumptions are unclear. I would maintain a collaborative relationship while ensuring that vendor outputs meet internal analytical and client-facing standards.
